Thank God, it got better after that.........still waiting on the 3 D ones to be
shown and that one that Mr. Smith is waiting for, "For Crimin' Out
Loud".....supposedly, this is the LAST appearance by Shemp, even though most of
it is done with stock footage.......
Laura
>God......I put on AMC early this a.m. and what do I see? The very first short
>is a "Joe" one...........yikes!!

But which one was it? There are a handful of Joe shorts I would much rather
see than a few of the Curlys or Shemps.
It's sort of like saying "ewwww, the first Beatle song is a Ringo!"

"Fifi Blows Her Top", I think....you know me, I'm bad with titles!

P.S. I always teased my best friend for liking Ringo the best....she always
thought HE was the CUTE ONE.......yuk!!!!!! (j/k)
P.P.S. Incidentally, Joe Besser did quite a few shorts with the boys.....I
wasn't aware that he made that many! Have only seen about 5 or 6...even if
that many!

all I know is he got a couple of babes in Maureen and Barbara Bach, while John
married Yoko and Paul married Linda. Eye of the beholder.....

Only sixteen. Muscle Up a Little Closer is the best, while his remake of Half
Wits Holiday, entitled Pies and Guys, is preferable by me to the original.
Half Wits Holiday is hampered by Curly's sluggish performance due to poor
health.

I think Ringo was the most "down to earth" one of the four. He always reminds
me of the "Curly" of the group. For some reason he's just goofy and yet cool .
. . maybe that's why I like him so much! Plus, I would take his songs "It Don't
Come Easy," "Photograph," "Yellow Submarine," and "Weight of the World" over
some of Lennon and McCartney's stuff, especially "Ebony and Ivory" and "Say Say
Say!"
Sorry, I was just listening to some Ringo stuff right before I read the
newsgroup, so I had to reply. I did see Ringo and the All-Starrs two weeks ago
in concert, and it was one hell of a show! If you ever get the chance to see
Ringo, take it!

I agree, but those last two were not Lennon-McCartney -- it was Paul alone
without John to tell him it sucked. I have indeed seen Ringo with the all star
band three times since the first tour in 1989. Not only does Ringo do all of
his solo hits and Beatle stuff, the guests do their own hits (these have
included Joe Walsh, Todd Rundgren, Burton Cummings, Rick Danko and Levon Helm,
Dr. John, Clarence Clemons, and Billy Preston, among others, over the years).
This year Ringo is touring with Jack Bruce of Cream (who did lead vocals on
Sunshine of Your Love and White Room, among others), and Eric Carmen of The
Rasberries (who did bubblegum stuff in the early seventies that has an
annoyingly endearing quality in retrospect).
To keep this somewhat on topic, Moe had the first Beatle haircut.

JN: LMFAO.....that was funny! And so true!! Hey, I WILL add a stooge comment
if I can say this real quick.....my hubby met Ringo face to face during his all
star band concert in Dallas back in 89......my hubby was having a Toshiba
electronics show in one of the conference rooms in the lobby of the hotel where
Ringo was staying.....Ringo casually breezed in with Billy Preston to look at
the "wares" and met my hubby and shook hands and shot the bull a few minutes!
Getting back to stooge stuff, I forgot to mention to you lamebrains.....the
other night while I was watching the boys on our local station, it cut to a
commercial and who do I see but that "Sherry Rumsford" character in "Three
Sappy People"! They had a clip of her when she was in the short on the left
and on the right was her, as she looks NOW and telling the story about how the
cream puff got lodged in her throat and they had to stop filming for awhile!
She looks like an old Anne Miller to me.......fat, old and hair dyed VERY
BLACK......you wouldn't have known it was her!
Laura
Yeah........even though I don't have anything against Linda and Yoko, they WERE
homely.......and Paul had his pick of beautiful women........yes, Ringo did
score big with that Barbara Bach, but if Ringo weren't Ringo, I wonder if she
would've even noticed??!!
Laura
>Yeah........even though I don't have anything against Linda and Yoko, they
>WERE
>homely.......and Paul had his pick of beautiful women.......
I had a crush on Linda around 1974-1980, but I was just a teenager so that
may explain it. Paul's first "steady" Jane Asher, was quite attractive.
It always made me respect Paul even more that he chose someone out of
something other than temporary infatuation, but clearly out of something
special. I thought Linda was great, though obviously not the best backup
vocalist he could have picked.
I'll refrain from commenting on Yoko.
I'm trying to relate this to the Stooges, and the only thing I can think of
is --
How about Larry's wife in the Stooges ABC bio... she was great looking.
Laura
She died about six months after Moe did......how tragic for that family to bury
both parents within months of each other!
But that's the only illness I know of that Helen had..........
