<uhmeow> aha
<uhmeow> cant have too many nicks for otherwise japanese names
<CurtisLeMay> lol
<uhmeow> i usually identify my last name as "simril" when making
restaurant reservations, having film developed, etc cuz people can't
pronounce Ishikawa here
<uhmeow> in japan of course i had to use ishikawa as NO BODY can
pronounce Simril

<Elayne_Riggs> "Yes?"
<CurtisLeMay> Well, it all works
<uhmeow> and speaking of nancy
<Elayne_Riggs> "What?"
<uhmeow> great to "see" you again, el
<Elayne_Riggs> Thanks Cat, you too! Lovely e-mail you sent.
<uhmeow> next week i'll be in southpark (the actual name of the hospital
i was born in, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan)
<uhmeow> and after that, Rome
* Elayne_Riggs was trying to watch a Cheech & Chong movie on the telly
and it just kept reminding her of how much funnier Firesign is.
<uhmeow> not the one near Oswego
<uhmeow> yeah c&c were never really funny unless you were so stoned you
were barely awake
<Elayne_Riggs> Wow, a world traveler! Or at least a Canadian.
<uhmeow> yeah, my first trip to Italy. me (and Fumiyo to a lesser
extent) much looking forward to this.
<uhmeow> al that swell Pizza
<Elayne_Riggs> What has happened to your nose?

<uhmeow> what was that Palm series with Dana Delaney?
<Elayne_Riggs> Hey Dex!
<uhmeow> wild palms?
<Dexter_Fong> Hi Elyane
<CurtisLeMay> Wild palms can't be reset
<Dexter_Fong> Curtis=Yamster?
<CurtisLeMay> Yes
<uhmeow> maybe when i return, Elayne will be the Empress of the Comic
Book World. or is that redundant?
<CurtisLeMay> Being correct for our time
<Dexter_Fong> Hmm..A bit laggy tonight...and under attended too
<Elayne_Riggs> I'd settle just for Robin having a regular gig again.
<CurtisLeMay> Sorry
<Dexter_Fong> Cat: History of the Art of Radio is winging your way
<uhmeow> hey great
<CurtisLeMay> (he flung the CD out the window)
<uhmeow> he doesnt?
<uhmeow> bummer
<Elayne_Riggs> No, he's got work at the moment, but nothing after that.
<uhmeow> hey, have my Hour Hour shows been released somewhere?
<Elayne_Riggs> This job will be done in two weeks, then we wonder how
we're going to pay the rent next month...
<uhmeow> too bad, el. nothing on the horizon?
<uhmeow> no fun no way
<CurtisLeMay> I seem to be the only one w/a regular gig, around here...
<Elayne_Riggs> Well Cat, the penciller on this job is a VERY well-known
guy and Robin's doing an amazing job inking him, so we're hoping that'll
lead to more.
<Dexter_Fong> Cat: Fred recently released some excerpted Hour Hours
<Elayne_Riggs> But hey, the life of a freelancer. I knew that, at least
theoretically, going in...
<uhmeow> thats what i meant, dex
<uhmeow> you won't starve?
<CurtisLeMay> Hope not
<uhmeow> my question is, are they from my Hour Hour stash or someone else's?
<CurtisLeMay> I'll have to nip down w/a food basket
<Dexter_Fong> I dunno Cat; Fred doesn't tell me much <smirk>
<uhmeow> there's a guy near here in North Van who was them all, was
station manager for KPPC when they did the show there
<uhmeow> that doesnt mean he'll let ME listen to them
<uhmeow> motherfucker....
<Dexter_Fong> If he won't let you listen Cat, he is *NOT* a true Firehead
<uhmeow> i thought Fred had been "dropped" from all firesign enterprises
<CurtisLeMay> what a swine
<Dexter_Fong> ...and should have them removed from his possession
<CurtisLeMay> I'll send in a division flat!
<Dexter_Fong> Cat: Apparently Fred had a lot of projects kinda hanging
waiting for the FS go ahead. He's gone ahead =))
<CurtisLeMay> Tactical Nukes, napalm, whatever it takes
<Dexter_Fong> Just don't harm the recordings Curtis
<CurtisLeMay> But of course
<CurtisLeMay> I want to hear them too :)
<CurtisLeMay> Cant't destroy that village in order to save it
<Dexter_Fong> Me too...and not just excerpts...I want it all!!!!!!!!
<Dexter_Fong> Any word from the usual attendees?
<uhmeow> not a true firehead, he was their boss. that must tell you
something
<CurtisLeMay> Drat
<uhmeow> he may have been the guy who fired them. there were so many,
it's hard to keep track
<CurtisLeMay> out of pepsi
<Dexter_Fong> Medic!!
<uhmeow> i did ask him to let me listen to them.
<uhmeow> he replied not
<CurtisLeMay> E mail pepsi
<uhmeow> i got an email from Klok today, didnt mention not being here.
Kend too!
<CurtisLeMay> You shoulda told hem you Knew me
<Elayne_Riggs> Believe me, Cat, if I ever come up to NOrth Van you'll be
the first to know!!
<Dexter_Fong> Hmm...was again difficult to get onto IRC
<uhmeow> klok sent me an article about toxic euros. just what i wanted
to know
<Elayne_Riggs> Don't think I'll be travelling anywhere for awhile,
except out of this apartment looking for a house.
<uhmeow> i hope to see you here again, el.
<CurtisLeMay> I never seem to have trouble getting on
<Dexter_Fong> Cat" Their money is toxic?
<CurtisLeMay> or off for that matter
<uhmeow> the coins react with swear on your hands to form a kind of battery
<uhmeow> in some people
<Dexter_Fong> I swear on my mothers hands
<CurtisLeMay> Can't tell the AC's from the DC's?
<uhmeow> Fumiyo and I hope to see you in NYC in the next year or 2, El
<Dexter_Fong> And me 2 Cat =)
<Elayne_Riggs> Oh Cat, that'd be wonderful! But we'll most likely be
living in Jersey by then.
<Elayne_Riggs> We're hoping to make a clean break by the spring. No
more apartment for us.
<uhmeow> well, that's not far away
<Dexter_Fong> Elayne: What exit?
<Elayne_Riggs> Fly into Newark, we'll pick you up. :)
<uhmeow> its not Tierra Del Fuego
<Elayne_Riggs> Probably my old haunts, Dex, between 136 and 137.
<CurtisLeMay> I may have a new place sometime soon
<uhmeow> Bob Newark has his own airport?
<Dexter_Fong> GSP huh?
<Elayne_Riggs> And you can fly into him!
<Elayne_Riggs> Oh yeah.
<CurtisLeMay> I knew that :)
<uhmeow> not a plesent image
<Elayne_Riggs> Robin is really getting into the idea, the word "Jersey"
sits well with him.
<Elayne_Riggs> ANd it's a bit more countrified, at least in places, than
NY is.
<Dexter_Fong> Yeah Man
<uhmeow> brittish word, afterall
<Dexter_Fong> All Wight
<CurtisLeMay> Depends on where you're at in NY
<Elayne_Riggs> Just so, Cat.
<uhmeow> all i know of new jersey i learned from watching the sopranos
<Elayne_Riggs> Well, Curtis, we can't afford to live too far up in NY
(where it's more rural)...
<uhmeow> and we've only had the first 2 seasons up here
<Elayne_Riggs> Jersey's much more like Springsteen than the Sopranos.
<CurtisLeMay> No it's actually nice in places in NJ
* Elayne_Riggs grew up and went to college in NJ.
<Elayne_Riggs> IJ started in NJ.
<uhmeow> is it better than Old Jersey?
<CurtisLeMay> most of the state is reasonably nice in fact
<CurtisLeMay> Bigger
<CurtisLeMay> with more cows
<uhmeow> bigger than springsteen?
<Elayne_Riggs> And they're not mad!
<Elayne_Riggs> Well, not ALL of them.
<Elayne_Riggs> There are a few kinda angry ones, though.
<uhmeow> switzerland (where we'll be end of oct) is full of cows. and
reeks of cow shit

<CurtisLeMay> They moo at you rudely
<uhmeow> makes me wanna rekindle the war with the cows
<CurtisLeMay> echh
<uhmeow> no, just the smell
<uhmeow> love the cheese though, so cant wipe em all out
<CurtisLeMay> That's a uniquely rancid smell...
<uhmeow> they actually wander around the alps. their shit pours down the
valleys
<Dexter_Fong> Cat: While your in Switz. pick me up one of those Swiss
Army Survival Yo-Yos
<Elayne_Riggs> Thanks for that imag.e
<CurtisLeMay> Elayne, I live in Ulster Co, which isn't too bad
<uhmeow> will do, dex
<Elayne_Riggs> Yeah, but it's a hell of a commute to NYC, Curtis. :)
<uhmeow> does it have a catholic sector?
<CurtisLeMay> It'll take some swiss motorway toll tickets
<Elayne_Riggs> Wait, are cows Catholic?
<CurtisLeMay> sure
<Elayne_Riggs> Does the Pope squat in the woods?
<Elayne_Riggs> Does the Pope squat ANYwhere any more?
<CurtisLeMay> Not in THESE woods
<Dexter_Fong> He mostly totters
<CurtisLeMay> These are MY woods
<CurtisLeMay> and falls over
<Elayne_Riggs> I want a Pope wind-up tottering doll.

<Regnad_Kcin> anybody decipher my anagram?
<Dexter_Fong> Not me..thought Cat might being a mighty wordsmith
<uhmeow> i'l ask the pope when i'm in vaticant city
<Regnad_Kcin> what sector is that?
<CurtisLeMay> That's My sister's Name Anna Graham(true!)
<CurtisLeMay> 6
<CurtisLeMay> 6
<CurtisLeMay> 6
<Regnad_Kcin> she must appreciate you're parent's wisdom daily :)
<uhmeow> i'd rather do a gram than an anagram
<Regnad_Kcin> i mean humour
<Regnad_Kcin> duh, oops
<Regnad_Kcin> well, i gotta key in the trunk
<CurtisLeMay> I'm no go with anagrams, but I get along with my sister
<uhmeow> ah, regnad

<Regnad_Kcin> had to split it with the sound man
<Regnad_Kcin> i'm american as well
<uhmeow> and what does he sound like now?

<uhmeow> speaking of bev hills
<Dexter_Fong> Your servants are in those hills

<CurtisLeMay> Full of returning deceased Jewish Comics
<Elayne_Riggs> No Cat, nothing.
<Elayne_Riggs> Oh, and please carry on with those dipthongs, I'm

<uhmeow> it says If youre watching 'Big Brother" you're listening to
Phil Proctor
<uhmeow> ive never seen the show
* CurtisLeMay is embarresed and covers his
<Elayne_Riggs> You're no fun. Do some push-ups.
<uhmeow> the reverse side says Who will be the next evicted? and who
will be the next to hire Phil Proctor?

I'm watching John Ashcroft.
<CurtisLeMay> The Devil incarnate

<Elayne_Riggs> We used to call him the Hoove!

<Regnad_Kcin> like rounded teeth on a cog, or a burned out servo?
<uhmeow> thanks for the euro news, klok
<Regnad_Kcin> hopefully just getting hung up
<uhmeow> i'll try and keep my palms dry
<klokwkdog> ur welcome: don't take any nickel Euros...
<Rotonoto> just say no to XP- stick with your old, unstable OS
<Regnad_Kcin> take it apart :) actually, just remove the hood and see if
the problem is "obvious"

<DocTechnical> hey i just looked up lathe of heaven on imdb - the 2002
production lists as one of the three executive producers: bruce davison!
what a hoot!
<Regnad_Kcin> i've had nt up for 6 months before, hard use
<DocTechnical> (bruce played the lead character in the 1980 pbs version)
<uhmeow> he was george orr in the original
<uhmeow> yes i recall
<klokwkdog> reminiscent of a study once that fed ground-up US coins to
animals and found they caused cancer, thus making them illegal under
pure food and drug act (why are there so many bad trips? regulators
slacking off?)
<Rotonoto> you trying to make me jealous, Reg? :o)
<CurtisLeMay> I had NT up for 71/2 months at one time. Had to take it
down to install a service pack
<uhmeow> my friend and i watched this version sunday night and were much
impressed
<DocTechnical> angelo badalamenti did the music track too (david lynch's
fave scoremeister)
<uhmeow> though losing the aliens was even a worse idea than losing tom
bombadil from LO Rings flick
<DocTechnical> i'm sorry i missed it. which network ran it?
<CurtisLeMay> Angelo B is the bomb
<uhmeow> actually I Hated the music
<uhmeow> AE
<Regnad_Kcin> yah, reboots are generally (almost always) for new
hardware, etc
<CurtisLeMay> sorry
<Regnad_Kcin> altho i've got a wonky mouse that shorts out if it gets
droppped, and needs to be rebooted to work again
<uhmeow> kend told us about it in recent irc
<Regnad_Kcin> annoying as hell
<DocTechnical> a&e - oh good, they'll be rerunning it a few times.
would like to check it out.
<uhmeow> maybe last week, before we split for spanish food
<uhmeow> which was Outstanding, by the way
<CurtisLeMay> I'll bet
<CurtisLeMay> I have a trackball
<DocTechnical> ole mole!
<uhmeow> and sangria, first time i've had it in a restaurant, was almost
as good as Okanagan crisp apple cidre
<Regnad_Kcin> as do i curt, love it
<klokwkdog> VHS decks a lost cause; many times the culprit is the drive
belts, and you can get a kit and refit them, but once the belts begin to
go, you know the plastic gears will follow as the plasticizers leak out
of both at about the same rate.
<uhmeow> i may Never return from spain!
<Regnad_Kcin> its old tho, and likes to bounce off the floor about 6
times a day
<uhmeow> i think they're rerunning it tonight
<DocTechnical> i should probably just bite the bullet and get a new one
- the prices have dropped soooo precipitously
<CurtisLeMay> heh
<uhmeow> oneof the freak brothers lives in spain, i think
<Regnad_Kcin> getchoo a 4 head or better, make sure it is stereo
<Rotonoto> old mice should be euthanized or retired honorably in the
back of a desk drawer
<klokwkdog> buy spares, I guess, 'cause VHS is quickly following the
turntable route - time to buy a few collectibles for later sale on eBay
(although keeping the plastic stuff alive will be fun)
<CurtisLeMay> You can get a vhs deck for $9.99 at the dollar store
<uhmeow> shelton? sherridan? where is elayne when we need her?
<Regnad_Kcin> and make sure you get the best connectors possible (for
your tv)
<DocTechnical> i keep my sony beta hi-fi running though, because for a
time in the '80s i was using it as an audio recorder (beta hi-fi audio
quality much better than cassettes, and this was before DAT became
affordable - well, affordable by me anyway)
<CurtisLeMay> Shelton
<uhmeow> right
<uhmeow> i should look him up
<DocTechnical> i have a cache of beta hi-fi audio recording i wanna
transfer into my pc and burn on cd/r - at some point -
<uhmeow> and crumb's in france
<DocTechnical> amidst all my other pending projects
<Regnad_Kcin> "Oooh, $9.99 for a vcr! Hmmm, it's made by soni as well!
Hey, there's a watch by Brolex..."
<uhmeow> projects pending
<DocTechnical> coby
<klokwkdog> get VHS HiFi and make sure it has manual level controls.
Once you wind on about a meter or two of tape, it makes a pretty darn
good audio deck. It's analog wideband, not digital like the DV stuff
(which has disappointing response specs. on the low-end stuff; not sure
if the format allows more)
<CurtisLeMay> May have to split soon-Installing SP 1 now
<Regnad_Kcin> good call curt
<uhmeow> i'm planning to use my mini DV camera as DAT recorder in
europe, doc
<DocTechnical> ooooh, he's installing sooooftware,,,,
<Regnad_Kcin> that security hole is one for the record books
<Rotonoto> I read SP1 is a bummer
<uhmeow> supposed to be superior sound recording quality
<Regnad_Kcin> is it?
<klokwkdog> oh, that thing that mails Billy all your passwords, every
site you've visited in IE, all the computers that are networked to the
XP box, etc., etc.?
<DocTechnical> reg: re sec hole - no kidding! i couldn't believe it
when i read about it
<Regnad_Kcin> i can't install it, my XP is <ahem> illegitimate son of MS
<CurtisLeMay> great
<uhmeow> if my sony mike is up to the task
<Rotonoto> I should go find the url- read a pretty unfav review of
effects of SP1 on less than perfect XP installations
<uhmeow> where is bf when i need him?
<Regnad_Kcin> but nuking that file or disabling help will suffice
<CurtisLeMay> I kinda deleted the offending file long ago...
<DocTechnical> ...kinda?
<Dexter_Fong> heh
<Rotonoto> needless to say bootleg copies should *not* be updated
<uhmeow> oh i checked out bf and doc's websites refferred to onthe
latest www.firesign.theatre page
<DocTechnical> how does one "kinda" delete a file?
<Regnad_Kcin> heheh.... leaning up your HD with an axe? sounds like
something id do
<uhmeow> good to see you operating a website again, doc
<CurtisLeMay> Heard rumors
<DocTechnical> am i? i'd better check...
<uhmeow> hows it goin, bub?
<Regnad_Kcin> i tried to update it.... I got a nice little error that
said i'm a bad man
<klokwkdog> maybe surf's up on Lake Washington, Cat? (Ranier is angry?)
<uhmeow> we knew that all along
<Regnad_Kcin> (fyi, MS never checked keys like this before, so i was
suprised)
<uhmeow> i'll be out of here in days, klok
<Bubbas_Brain> hey cat.
<uhmeow> no water in saskatchewan
<klokwkdog> in a daze?
<klokwkdog> that's air travel for you
<CurtisLeMay> I've renstalled w/no problems...
<Rotonoto> is it illegal to operate a website while intoxicated?
<DocTechnical> wow, i really do have a web site! i'd almost forgotten
(he says, sarcastically, miffed that he's let the site get exceptionally
moldy due to inattention over the past 3 yrs)
<uhmeow> hey bub, does lodestone sell Ossman's Time Capsules? it used to
but not mentioned on site
<Regnad_Kcin> Ok, drumfill please... any guesses on my anagram? Slice
'em, Arab Dogs
<DocTechnical> DWUI (driving a website under the influence...)
<uhmeow> i'm getting Time Capsule played on a local radio station here
<klokwkdog> well, anyone that can spell can see there's no "water" in
"sakatchewan", Cat
<Regnad_Kcin> I'm so proud, its my first anagram
<CurtisLeMay> Take 2 and call me in the AM
<uhmeow> want to turn listeners on place to buy it
<Bubbas_Brain> lemme check
<DocTechnical> reg: hmmm, let me think...
<Dexter_Fong> Reg: I'm not good at anagrams
<Regnad_Kcin> nor am i hehe
<uhmeow> also packer's production of An Autobozographical Evening
<Regnad_Kcin> lucked out on it or something
<klokwkdog> yeah, watch that DT. I went there for an album cover the
other day and you couldn't see anything but ivy
<uhmeow> but is packer violently out of the firesign biz?
<DocTechnical> klok: sorry - i need to get some of that "roundup" for
web pages
<Regnad_Kcin> hint, i was watching the festivities yesterday when it
came to me....
<uhmeow> "it" has sex organs?
<Rotonoto> oh, a old trick puzzle...
<Regnad_Kcin> yah, i think firesign is like a gang... you get initiated
by fire on the way in, and on the way out
<Bubbas_Brain> nope, it doesn't seem to be in the catalog
<Regnad_Kcin> must hurt
<uhmeow> you just piss it away?
<klokwkdog> Roto - illegal only if you drive the website on the Federal
Information Superhighway. Trooper Gore will getcha!
<Rotonoto> so happen we find out the answer tomorrow next show
<CurtisLeMay> ouch
<uhmeow> some say the world will end with fire, others say ice
<CurtisLeMay> Ice
<Rotonoto> pooper gore?
<CurtisLeMay> Ice 9
<Regnad_Kcin> I say it'll end win the Cubs win the world series
<Dexter_Fong> Fire 7
<Bubbas_Brain> steam
<Regnad_Kcin> we all have our opinion
<uhmeow> robert frost had a date with a creamatorium. now wasn't that nice?
<klokwkdog> ...and others say that Robert Frost will come again and do
horrible, unmentionable stuff to everyone, things we can't even imagine.
Much worse than listening to Vogon poetry...
<CurtisLeMay> The world will NEVER end, then
<uhmeow> this one will, but the next one?
<Rotonoto> I am not properly permitted for html
<uhmeow> you're on your own
<Bubbas_Brain> Vogon poetry?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<Regnad_Kcin> Vogon poetry is the 3rd worst in the known universe
<klokwkdog> nah, it'll end in a Whimper, if you're enough of an Anglophile
<DocTechnical> god bars came lies?
* Regnad_Kcin types "Enjoy Poetry"
<CurtisLeMay> Share and Enjoy
<Regnad_Kcin> if anyone gets that reference they win a kewpie doll
<Bubbas_Brain> Poetry is the Real Thing....
<klokwkdog> the Indians at Sand Creek prayed to the Christian God.
Didn't help.
<Rotonoto> I would donate it to the doll drop
<Dexter_Fong> Poetry is the Shorthand of Beauty
<DocTechnical> i thought trooper gore was al's wife - oh that's right,
he name is tipsy
<CurtisLeMay> I'd like to teach the world to sing poetry
<DocTechnical> hic
<Regnad_Kcin> <THHGTTG Infoom text adventure from 1984>
<Bubbas_Brain> dropping dolls? Byou Bastard!
<uhmeow> hey poetry fans, go out and buy Autobozographical Evening and
the Time Capsules cassette if they're stilll available anywhere
<uhmeow> they are as good as any firesign stuff
<uhmeow> and pay bubbas brain lots of money
<klokwkdog> I watched Frank Zappa dragged in front of her subcommittee
to answer for his music. Appalling.
<Regnad_Kcin> ok, here goes... Slice 'em, Arab Dogs..........
<Regnad_Kcin> God Bless America
<CurtisLeMay> I don't have a cassette player :(
<Dexter_Fong> Well done Reg =)
<uhmeow> you can find one in the garbage
<Rotonoto> so help me Dog...
<Regnad_Kcin> Its unfortunate that Frank's resultant album sucked balls
<uhmeow> hey bub, wasnt Time Capsules done on CD?
<Dexter_Fong> Curt: You seem to be a bit of a Luddite?
<CurtisLeMay> I'm impressed
<Regnad_Kcin> Meets the Mothers of Prevention is not required listening
<DocTechnical> very clever reg
<Bubbas_Brain> I don't remember it.
<uhmeow> the fact that there is an america proves the fact that there is
no god
<Regnad_Kcin> ty
* Regnad_Kcin bows
I couldn't get on at all; all the IRC servers I tried failed.
Anyone have a recent list of good servers to use? I'd like to
update the lists on the weekly announcement and website.
