I remember a comedy programme that was set in a school where the main
characters were the teachers (rather than the pupils). I think the main
character might have been the Headteacher. Anyone remember the name?

Could it be the ill fated 'Hardwicke House' with Roy Kinnear and Nick
Wilton? Pulled after only 2 episodes I believe.

Was it 'The Head'? It was very good whatever it was called.

No, The name of the comedyseries is "Chalk".The main character is the deputy
headteacher, which bleedin' name I have forgotten. But I know the name of
the twatty Headteacher and religious education teacher Richard, no
relations, Nixon.

Hi,

I believe you are thinking of the BBC comedy called "Chalk" written by
Steven Moffat and starring David Bamber which was transmitted about 1996/7

David Bamber played the part of Eric Slatt, the stressed out
deputy-headmaster of Galfast High School. He is also covering for the
absent headmaster (Mr R Nixon). Amongst the other problems he has to
contend with, are his ex-wife who also works in the school and a completely
looney Music Teacher!

The cast members as far as I know were:

David Bamber - Eric Slatt (Deputy Headmaster)
Nicola Walker - Suzy Travis
Geraldine Fitzgerald - Janet Slatt
Amanda Boxer - Miss Amanda Trippley (Music Teacher, completely looney)
Martin Ball - Dan McGill
Duncan Preston - Mr Kennedy (School Governor)
Andrew Livingston - Mr Humboldt (P.E. Teacher)
Damien Matthews - Jason Cockfoster (R.E. Teacher)
John Grillo - Mr Clarkdale

HTH
