As we get closer to the broadcast date, I will post a list of all the radio
stations airing the show and you can call for the broadcast times.
This documentary is the revised and expanded version of a program I produced
in 1994 in celebration of MP's 25th anniversary. Thanks to the enormous
talents and the timeless comedy of the Pythons the program won a World Medal
for International Radio Programming at the 1995 New York Festivals.
This documentary is a little different than you might at first suspect.
Through the use of clips from their recordings and movies the program
explores and celebrates Monty Python's peculiar view of history. From the
Dawn of civilization through modern times -- with stops in the Middle Ages,
the Renaissance, The Age of Reason and Enlightenment and, of course, The
Spanish Inquisition. 'A Look at Civilization from Behind the Elephant'
finally provides conclusive evidence that the world is indeed flat as I've
always suspected.
As I said, as of right now the program is slated to be aired only on
Canadian radio. I am currently in discussions with program syndicators to
have the show broadcast in Australia, England, New Zealand, and the United
States. However, I get the feeling that the people I'm talking to do not
think that there would be enough interest in these countries.
What does that say about us Canadians, for that matter what does that say
about the rest of the world. Nevertheless, I have a plan. I'm thinking of
starting a world-wide grass roots movement - PYTHON FOR THE PEOPLE. We need,
NO! WE DEMAND OUR PYTHON!
More on this later. I want to wait a while to see what happens.
Re the following, I would appreciate it if you would email me directly. I
don't want to miss any comments.
I'm most definitely interested in your thoughts about the show and/or if you
have any suggestions as to how I might be able to get the show aired in the
aforementioned countries.
The show is formatted in such a way that announcer 1 will introduce the
narrator (announcer 2). I thought it would be fun to give the narrator
(announcer 2) a different Python character name each time. Such as D.L.
Gumby, Vas Defferens, Keith Maniac (yes, yes, from Guatemala), etc… Please
feel free to email me your favorites, I need 15 different character names.
Also, a 3 hour program incorporates a lot of sketches and songs and I'm sure
that I have incorporate all the most famous. Nudge, Nudge, Dead Parrot, The
Spanish Inquisition, Crunchy Frog, Argument, Cheese Shop, Bruces, Travel
Agent, etc…
And while the program is almost finished, I still might be able to squeeze
in one or 2 more obscure bits so again please feel free to make suggestions.
And finally, I hope the group doesn't mind but I would like to post this
every couple of weeks in order to reach as many Python fans as possible.
Please tell your friends.
Thanks in advance. r.z.
