NYU College Bowl presents it's First Annual Big Apple Bowl!!! This posting
will contain information about dates of the tournament, structure, deadlines
prices, and who to contact for more info.

1. Dates

The tournament will take place on Saturday October 8, 1994. Understanding
that certain teams have limited budgets, we are going to try to keep the
tournament to a one day affair. If we cannot, the tournament will also take
place on Sunday October 9. We will incluide further postings on some lodging
alternatives (campus housing, cheaper hotels, etc.). The exact times will
also be posted at a later date.

2. Structure

We will limit participation in the tournament to a total of 30 teams. The
tournament will consist of three divisions (10 teams to each division).
There will be 15 rounds in each division with each team playing all other
teams in their respected divisions. There will be no interdivisional play.

At the end of the round robin, playoffs will be determined by awarding
automatic playoff seeds to the top two teams in each division. Also, the
next two teams with the highest records will be included in the playoffs as
wild card entries. Seedings by place and record will determine who plays
who in the playoffs. The structure of the playoffs will be as follows:

Seed #1-The team that finishes in first place with the highest record.
Seed #2-The team that finishes in first place (in another division) with
the second highest record.
Seed #3-The team that finishes in first place (in the third division) with
the lowest record of all the first place teams.
Seed #4-The team that finishes in second place with the highest record.
Seed #5-The team that finishes in second place (in another division) with
the second highest record.
Seed #6-The team that finishes in second place (in the third division) with
the lowest record of all the second place teams
Seed #7-The wild card entry with the higher record
Seed #8-The wild card entry with the lower record

The seeds will pair off: 1 will play 8, 2 will play 7, and so on.

The semifinals and finals shall feature some interesting surprises, we
haven't decided what the setup of those matches will entail, but we have
some ideas that we hope everyone will enjoy. The final setup will be posted
in a later posting.

Tiebreakers will be determined in the following order:

1. Head to Head Record
2. Highest Points Per Game
3. Highest Total Bonus Points

3. Deadlines

The absolute last day for questions to be sent will be Saturday September 24.
However, we would be more than happy to accept question packets before the
end of this semester. If your team has decided that they will attend this
year, you may want to ask them to write questions now and you can submit
these question early for thorough editing. Remember, the earlier we get
question packets, the better edited questions will be and this will lessen
the amount of protests we encounter.

PLEASE NOTE: The people to contact for this tournament may not be around
during the Summer semester. Please refer to the list of contact names to
check the dates that the contacts will be available at particular addresses.

The deadline for entrance into this tournament will be September 30. We
regret that we will not be able to accomodate teams who reply after that
date so we can ensure a proper setup and have ample time to make certain
last-minute arrangements.

4. Prices

The following price list is a tantative price schedule for the tournament.

(that word is TENTATIVE. Excuse the poor editing!)

$60-Registration Fee for each team
$50-Fee for each additional team a school might bring

Possible Credits

$5-Each Buzzer system (We will need all the systems we can get!)
$5-Each Clock brought by a team (Clocks would be very nice as well)
$5-Each Game Official brought by a team (Judges and Scorers are a good thing)
$5-Each Question packet turned in by Labor Day (Why not send questions also)

5. Contacts

We hope that many teams will reply before this year is over. However, the
two tournament chairpersons will be available for reply during the summer.
