FWIW, here are my comments on the top 25 poll.

I think it is quite obvious that being on the west coast
(and hence not playing in a lot of east coast events, or
not playing in a lot of tournments, period) hurts a school
quite a bit. (Surprisingly Berkeley finished quite high,
although they only finished in the middle of the pack
at NCT, did not participate in ACF, and did not win
that many invitationals).

IMO, Stanford deserves to be a lot higher.
For eg., at the Cardinal Classic, both G.State, and Vandy
were present, as did BYU and Berkeley. Stanford and BYU
were easily the best, and they split their head-to-head
matches. (Not aware of more common tournments where
Stanford faced other top 25 teams).

Also, 'far as I know, Stanford won almost all their matches
with Berkeley this year, including C.Classic, and Berkeley's
invitational. They only lost the regionals final to them
in the 3rd game by 5 or 10 points. IMO, Stanford has to be
considered a better/equal team compared to Berkeley.

Seems like Stanford were punished quite a bit for losing that
one match-up; yet Michigan fared better pollwise, despite losing the
regionals; hence my coast-to-coast thesis :(

Oh, goody; we actually got some votes:-):) I know, I sent
in 10 ballots, using various aliases :(:)

PS: To D^2 or any one else from Berkeley; I am not ragging
on you; I think you are a great team; just using your team
for the purpose of comparison.

I agree that the poll is somewhat biased against West Coast teams, but it
is hard to rate a team you haven't seen.

I personally put Berkeley higher than Stanford, because, if I haven't seen
a team, I put more stock in Regionals performance than in invitationals,
just because I think Regionals is a truer test of ability.
