I recently purchased a "Pierre Dumont" pen set - fountain pen and
ballpoint pen at a garage sale for almost nothing.

This looks like a very high quality pen set. Beautiful red pens in
mint condition with what appears to be gold plate in a mahogany wooden
box labelled "Maregs". The gold fountain pen nib is labelled iridium.

I need to find cartridges for both pens - fountain pen and ball
point. I can't find any information about this brand name anywhere.
Can anyone help? Any idea where I can purchase ink cartridges?

I can only offer a few guesses (ones you may have made already)...

Maregs appears to be a Czech electrical manufacturer, so the pens may be a
promotional gift. Pierre Dumont was a French painter. I don't think this
is a real brand -- the pens are probably from an Asian (Chinese, maybe Thai)
factory, and someone chose the name to signify "classiness".

Do you know that the fountain pen is a cartridge filler? If it is, it
probably takes "international" cartridges, although those could be "long" or
"short". You could try Waterman or Pelikan cartridges from a local
office-supply, book, or art-supply store.

Does the ballpoint have a refill in it? If it does, take it along to the
store to find a match. If not, it might take a Parker-compatible refill
(Itoya makes nice Parker-style gel refills, BTW).

Hope this helps,
Brian

This does help, Brian. Just this morning (...actually BEFORE I read
your reply...), I purchased a pack of Manuscript international short
ink calli cartridges from an art supply store. They work perfectly!
Confirms exactly what you were suggesting is correct. You get one
more notch on your credibility!

Thanks!

Those are from the Manuscript Pen Company in the UK? I assume the ink is
non-waterproof and safe for fountain pens -- how does it write? I've seen
some of their stuff at my local Michael's, but haven't tried it.

Oh no, a notch! Now you've ruined my credibility's pristine majesty ;) .

Have you figured out the ballpoint yet?

The very first pen I picked up from my desk was a handout from a
urologist's office. The gel tip refill works perfectly. Hope the
urologist doesn't mind too much, but I've retired his promo-pen.

Thanks for asking, Brian.
