question about ecoline inks

I am a bit apprehensive. looks OK but will it ruin the innards. Ink experts
to the rescue pls.

If Frank were around he's probably tell me it's only colored water and not
to worry.

I wouldn't use the opaque colors at all. Solids will clog the pen.

not an ink expert but I have an acquaintence that regularly uses
Ecoline inks in their FPs with no problems. I've seen a white ink
used in a flexible nib by this person but can't tell you if she used a
dip pen in that case (as I'm assuming this is one of the "opaque"
colours.) Apparently she's been doing this for some time and I trust
her experience. She *might* flush more often but I don't recall her
saying as such.
They're a bit like Herbin inks in consistent from what I gather - a
bit more vibrant but not heavy like PR or standard watercolours.

Thnx KC. That was the impression I got when I put in a Duofold. Nice flow,
watery but fuller than PR. I think I'll go out and buy more. They have 32
hues or so. And at $2.20 or so a bottle, pretty economical.
It was the Pelikan importer store where they sold and told me one of their
stalwart Pelikan clients is ae ecoline reg.

Ecoline is a liquid watercolor manufactured by (Royal) Talens (Netherlands).
It is NOT an ink.
It is considered a school supply and is listed as such on the Talens web site.
Talens has a Where to buy? search capability on its home page: by country, by
province (state), by city.
Ecoline is not a listed product but the stores with the most X's by other
products are probably the best bet.
Ecoline is not at all lightfast. Talens ,in FAQ's, states that work done using
Ecoline should be kept in a folder.
If you can't find Ecoline you might try Dr. Ph Martin's concentrated liquid
watercolors (not the Hydrus) or Luma Brilliant concentrate ('shake well' on
bottle). Both of these are indicated for use with Tech pens, brush, and
airbrush.
Both of the above are available at various on-line or actual Art Supply stores.
