I recently ran across someone wanting to sell a Rockola 464 jukebox for $800.
Seeing as how the only one I could find a recent price for -- even on eBay! --
was $150, I think this might be a wee bit high... but I have little knowledge
of jukes.

Anyone care to comment on what a good price for this juke would be?

Thank you.

$800 is more than a wee bit high.I would think more like $300 or $400 working
with records. Was it professionally restored with a warranty or as sold? The
later boxes with non-viewable mechs aren't worth much and this box was made in
the 70's.I recently got a non-working 1973 Rockola 450 for $45 at auction.Was
very easy to get working.I've seen unrestored 50's models go cheaper on ebay.

WAY too high... A decent looking 464 in good working order shouldn't
be priced more than $450. More typically the range should be closer to
$300-400. Perhaps a little more if records are included. A non-working
complete parts machine will run about $150 here in Texas.

Figured as much. Thanks to both you and Thomas -- and anyone else who chimes
in after I post this.

Just some guy who has it taking up space in his garage who looks at his dusty
juke and sees nothing but dollar signs.

I may give him a call to let him know I'd be happy to take it away for $100
(if it has any decent records) when it doesn't sell for a month... Goofy as
it is, I kind of like the way it looks.

Thanks,
-Iain

this bring to mind what I think is an interesting story. a friend of mine
called saying his neighbor had a jukebox he wanted to sell. was I interested?
yes! I went to look at it - it was an Ameracana. that had set in a wet garage
for years some one had pryed the top open they didn't have the key I guess, it
didn't work, it looked like junk. he tryed to give it to me. I didn't want it
even at that price.
a week later he had a garage sale, put best offer on it and some one gave him
four hundred dollars for it.. doc ellis
