My Seeburg VL-200 hasn't had a problem since i restore it with Bill Wonderlick 15 years ago.

The record picks and plays but won't reject after song ends. The records just sits there and spins.

I manually rejected the record from the mech trip lever and my jukebox played about 10 records in a row without any problems. After the 10 records played i didn't play another record for about 5 minutes.

After about 5 minutes i made a selection again (A1) and the jukebox picked and played the record but again would not reject and move to the next selection, it just sits there and spins.

Any clues where/what to check?
Perhaps it could be a dirty switch in the two stacks of switches on the mech?

Hey Vic... Sorry that there has not been any helpful suggestions yet
posted for you here on this forum... If you don't get any helpful
suggestions soon, I'll come over one night with my V and VL manuals and
we can see if we can figure it out ourselves.

Thanks so much Jeff for the offer..but i looked closely at my problem on Sunday after getting a good night sleep and my first thought was to look at the 2050 tube since i did change it out a couple of months ago and the VL did actually play 10 records fine after i had the sit and spin problem on late Sat night.

Well sure enough...i found it to be the 2050 tube and socket.

After inserting the tube in and out of the 2050 socket a few times to get a solid connection the VL worked flawless all day yesterday after many selections.

I will keep a close watch out to see if the problem comes about again.Hopefull not.

Poor tube socket connections are possible but more common on small pin tubes (12AX7, etc).

Has this machine been -properly- oiled since it was restored? What you describe is a classic case of a gummy clutch yoke. After the machine has warmed up from operation what remains of the lube loosens up enough to allow the clutch to shift into scan mode.

I have uploaded a lube chart here:

Photobucket compresses pics more than the original so if res is inadequate I'll u/l it to a file hosting site.

Yes, that is a general lubrication chart for Seeburg Select-O-Matic mechs.

Use a 20wt non-detergent oil.

It may be necessary to remove the tall bearing above the worm gear above the motor shaft and lube that bearing a bit more.

The machine hex screw on the top bearing should be hollow (drilled) so
oil goes through it into the ball and shaft...

That's true John, but I've had numerous cases where that bearing has become glazed and oil won't properly penetrate over it's surface. The result is a "squeal" and rasping-fluttering sound through the speakers.

It has to be directly applied to the bearing and shaft.
