I've a NSM Digital Thunder CD jukebox, and the cd player (the laser I
guess) is having too much trouble reading the discs. The cd changer
mechanism works fine, but the CD starts spining and the player usually
fails to read the track. (Error 61 on the display)
So, I got tired of this situation, and I'm thinking about converting
the jukebox to MP3, using a conversion Kit I found online:
http://www.cdadapter.com/nsm5mp3.htm
I'd like to know if someone have used this CD Adapter technology from
Data Sync Engineering, if its worth the price, or if you suggest other
alternatives.
thanks in advance!
regards
Damian
I would have to therefore assume that the NSM version will work just
as well as the others.
(If you were using this in a juke for commercial purposes, depending
on where you live, it probably would be illegal for copyright/
licensing reasons to use this. Check first.)
The only problem I can think of is if you have a juke with a visible
CD player mechanism, then you would lose that visual effect.
However you could just cover the hole, or just leave a CD on the
"turntable" and leave the mech in the PLAY position.
You will also have to rip all the songs off all the CD's to turn them
into MP3 for the unit. This can take some time but you only have to do
it once.
I don't know of any other alternatives, but if anyone knows of any,
would be interesting to look at them.
Hi Damian;
I just wanted to pass on another option.
A few years back I had a similar problem with an older AMI jukebox
(vinyl rather than CDs). I chose to convert it to a digital platform.
I removed all the old record hardware and installed a low end PC and
touch screen monitor. I'm using the Juketime user interface from
'www.JukeTime.com'.
JukeTime's user interface package came with a fairly detailed example
retrofit guide so the conversion was straight forward, didn't take
much time and I didn't have to destroy the look and feel of my
jukebox. Our 'new' jukebox has been working great every since,
(running 24x7 for over three years). This change has eliminated my
maintenance headaches. Upgrading the JukeTime user interface software
is about the only maintenance I do these days and I only do that to
get the latest features.
Good luck on getting you jukebox running.
