I am trying to troubleshoot the light organ on my father's NSM
Prestige ES160 II. The juke box works well with the exception of the
lamps which continue to blow the middle of the three fuses. I have
tinkered with this and the problem went away for a while but has now
returned. Hence I am thinking it is an intermittent problem rather
than a hard failure. With the center fuse blown, the lights on the
right and lower sections are very bright, and those on the top and
left sections are dim.

I have been unsuccessful in finding a schematic of this part of the
jukebox which makes troubleshooting difficult, but I feel that someone
out there must have had the same problem and know of a solution.

The other questions I have related to this is what is the correct
rating for the bulbs (2W or 3W?) and what should the fuse rating be.
It is blowing 5A anti-surge fuses.

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Paul,
I have worked on a few of the light organs on the NSM's over the years
and I always seem to find pin and plug connections that are burned
up. I clean up and re-flow solder. I then replace the plugs with new
pins and a molex and it seems to solve the problems. So far I've
never had to work on the board replacing diodes and such. For what
it's worth. Good luck! Tim.

Thanks for the help Tim. I will check the plugs for any sign of
damage but I somewhat doubt that is the problem since it is blowing
fuses rather than not illuminating the lights. The right and top bank
of lights are bright, while the left and bottom banks are dim with the
center fuse blown - if that helps!

Thanks again and I look forward to any other suggestions. In
particular I would like to know what the correct wattage is for the
bulbs and the correct fuse value. Does a wiring diagram for the
lights and light control not exist for these wonderful machines?

If it is popping fuses then chances are there is a bad componant on
the light organ circuit board causing this. Time to check diodes and
change a chip or two. The board itself shouldn't be very large so
there shouldn't be a lot of stuff on it? Not sure. Let us know.

Hi Paul
I know it's been some time since you posted for help, but if you still have the juke box with the light problem I may be able to help you.
I had the same problem with my JB and I found that the problem was due to the corner pieces under the lid of the JB shorting to the chassis. If you need detailed help I will send you some photos.
Regards Mick
