Rowe CD 100B Album Play Question

When I select a cd to play as an album, should all the tracks play in
order( 1,then 2 next, 3 next etc..) ?
I have the juke set for album play, and have set the CCC for all track
play, but what happens is it randomly plays the tracks on the cd. It
does play all tracks on the album, but just not in order.
Been reading and reading the manual, but i see no mention of the way
the album option should play.
Any thoughts ?

You could go through the menus, see if there is an "order of play"
setting - set to FIFO (First in first out).
This MAY have something to do with it as if an album is selected, we
don't know what order the tracks are written into the "queue" by
the software.
What version of software do you have ? maybe this happened in some of
the earlier versions ? I have never seen a CD 100 do this.

play To get around this just put on like 9999 plays and THEN
you can play albumns

HI- it is on free play, but if I select for instance, CD # 03, then
00 it will play all the tracks on the cd, just randomly not in order.
I dont remember off hand what version the CCC is ( I am at work now)
but it is a 2.* somthing. looks like an early version. I'll
check it tonight.
while I was looking at the manual, somewhere I thought I saw a
paragraph on "FIFO (First in first out) " but I cant find it again.
Theres lots of info in that manual to read!

I have a CD100 in the shop and it is on Free Play, but does not do Album
Play (XX00) even though it claims to be set that way.
I would be interested in knowing which version of software is in your
machine - perhaps I need to update mine...

one of the amoa shows which I used to go to I complained to the
president in ROWE about no free play He made me a chip that had
free play but insisted they did not want albumn play because
people would ties up too much play with that. dont know if
years later they changed it I just put 9999 credits on in
program mode and then can play albumns fime

Just checked the CCC, it is version 2.3
If I get a chance tonight, I will take it off of free play, and try it
on straight credit operation and see what happens.

Latest version I have seen is ver 4.3, though haven't seen any obvious
differences from ver 3. 6 (3.6 is in wide use from what I have seen,
apparently was
designed to auto load Australian pricing as default)
Versions 2 x would be very old,
one of the first CD100s I bought in the early 1990s had that
installed.
One revision I do recall in the mid 1990's was to allow the popular
button to be disabled or enabled.
Usually I disable at as if its on party hire and someone puts an
entire album on,
it takes forever to cancel out all the tracks, assuming anyone
realises what has happened - and people
get annoyed.
I think other ROM changes increased the page limit numbers for
machines like CD MM1 series, Eagle and Berklee that
had a single "book" but with more pages compared to the upright
models.
There was also some other "bug" around the mid 1990's that involved
tracks with a run-time longer than 7 minutes.
If one of these was playing and either you cancelled it, or the power
was interrupted or something like that,
the disc would end, but would sit on the player and not go back up to
the rack, and the transfer arm would
have to be manually wound back to the up position or something weird
like that. It was not a nice thing.
Stairway to Heaven (or some similar and very popular) long-playing
track like this was a common cause. Setting maximum time limits
for tracks was the only cure for this until the bug was fixed.
There was another bug involving the "berklee" type wallboxes (the ones
without a mechanism that would act as a remote selector) whereas if
you made more than about 4 selections in one go, it could randomly
"lose" them. The earlier CD-51 wall boxes were not affected by this as
they transmit the selection number to the master machine immediately
it is selected, whereas the "berklee" type hold them internally and
only transmit one at a time, once a song finishes playing.
For this reason, any juke in commercial use should be upgraded to at
least the 3.x series.
For party hire use - I always just put on 9999 credits,
usually to see how many plays people make in the time its hired,
(usually 3-400 as it turns out). Usually I forget
to renew it and tend to put it back to 9999 every few months when it
starts getting down :)
never tried the "free" setting for some reason.

in my first posting. On album play, I have to press the first 2
digits of the CD, then your supposed to press the "popular" button to
select "album play" .not 00 after the CD numbers as I first
mentioned.
I tried 6500 and it said "not allowed" then I rember to hit
65~popular then it works.
But now I have another question , the CD does play tracks in order now
( IE 1, 2, 3and so on), but after one track is done playing, then the
mech lifts the CD off the player, and put's it right back on for the
next song/track on the same CD.
I assumed that it should play the entire CD with out having to read
the disc every time in between each track. Is this the way there
supposed to work ? This is my first Rowe CD juke, and I am not real
familiar with the propper sequence of operation yet.
By the way, I went back and re-read the section of the manual again,
and found that I had set the paid play option (690) for "FIFO' but
had not set the free play setting (691) for "FIFO" it was still set
as Random play. So now I do have album play on both free play or pay
play settings.
Happy to at least have it set correct and playing now !!!
OK, would there be any advantage for me to look for a newer CCC with a
higher software version, this juke will probably never see commerical
use again. I got lucky, I am the 2nd owner since new. Nice clean
jukebox.

Hi Dennis,
Ah, that works for me too CD number then 'Popular' give one the whole
album while on Free Play.
The Lift & Replace allows other selections to be played and then it goes
back to the Album CD...tested that just now on our Rowe - selected an
album, while it was playing made a single selection of another CD. When
the playing album CD finished the song, it then went to the newly
selected CD, played that track and went back to the album CD and
continued from where it left off. It does seem to pick up and replace
the CD for every track on the album play...

Glad to find out that's how it is supposed to work..I didnt know that
you could select a song from a different CD while the "album" CD was
still playing.
Now I can shut the lid and just enjoy it !!
