So the new Bubbler is up and running and I noticed it sounded a little odd. It seems I have no sound coming from the left channel cabinet speakers. It's a 1999 with orange componets. All indicator leds on the amp point to everything being ok there. Fuse leds are lit and the speaker short outputs leds are all off. Paging and computer leds are on on. I checked with a meter for broken wires from amp to crossover board and from cossover to speakers and they all check out fine. I swapped wires from left to right and the left speaker works so its not a speaker problem. Left wires on right speaker and still no sound. I checked balance setting for internal amp and it is centered. Tried resetting internal amp settings and that did not work. If I hook up external speakers those work fine and balance settings work on those too. Does anyone have some advice as to where or what I should check next. I would think since the amp leds indicate everything is fine could it be something on the crossover board causing the issue? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Nate

Might be a loose connection/wire at the rca plugs on the cd player side just to the bottom left of the platform. You can trace these from the amp.
I'm guessing if it's hooked to the ext and works, this might not be the issue. But I did have the same problem.I took the 2 rcas plugs off and found a wire had come off.
Good Luck

Thanks for the post Tim! I checked those wires out and everything looks good there. I reversed them too with no difference. I tried my ipod hooked up to the AUX input and I still have no left channel with that too.

According to the manual, if all lights are working as they should on the amp and I have no sound it says to replace the " pre amp board". I would happily do this but I don't know where to get one. Does anyone have a good pre amp board for an orange amp or know where to get one?

Also, any advice on how to test the amp output before it goes to the crossover. Is it possible for the crossover to be killing the sound? If I test the output from the amp before it hits the crossover and there is no left channel power then I would think I have a pre amp board problem and not a crossover problem. I have a meter, but I'm not sure what exactly to do with it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

thanks again, Nate

For anyone following along, or for anyone searching in the future, I have an update. Through some very nice people who emailed me I was able to rule out some things and find the culprit to the problem. After trying all the things in my first post and coming to think the pre amp board was the problem I was told to try hooking up another powered amp and speakers to the variable RCA ouputs on the amp. If both channels played through the second amp and speakers(and they did) then the pre amp board was more than likely good. The next thing to test was the two power amp boards. Basically one power amp board does the left channels and the other does the right channels. So if you flip flop boards and the sound problem goes to the other channel then you have a problem with that power amp board. Well, I did this and I got no change! Still no left midrange sound. At this point I started triple checking wire harnesses and connectors and everything still looked good. At this point I was getting really frustrated and I then started flicking components on the crossover board thinking maybe there is a cold solder joint or something. I flicked a cap that is on the problem left interior mid line and all of a sudden sound! I hit it again and it went out. One more time and back on it went. So there it is, a got a crossover board issue. Thanks to all that helped!

Wow,sure glad you found it.
It seems complicated sometimes, when the answer is right there.
So,was it a loose connection.Bad solder joint?
You got it rockin again?

Hi Tim,

The old girl has been rockin' away for the last two weeks. I have done nothing other than flicking those components and walking away. I honestly just haven't had the time to properly check it out. I am assuming it's a cold solder joint. I'll post back when I narrow it down. For now,..."if it aint broke...."
