For the Hampton Roads residents, Senator Obama is campaigning at Victory
Park on the James River in Newport News this Saturday 10/4/08. The seats in
the park are first come first serve, and WAVY said be prepared to walk.
Security will be TIGHT. Parking will also be first come first serve.

I won't go, knowing the area really well. Plus-I doubt he'd sign anything
unless you are up close to the stage.

Good luck to anyone who heads out.

I am going. However, they will only let you assemble about 10:30.
I'll be there an hour earlier, and hope I can get in. It's a SMALL
park. VERY small. Also, it's the worst area.... they are trying to
get it to be better with vitalization, but it's still a pretty scary
neighborhood. How'd they get him to come there I wonder.

If I can, I'll get him to sign something, but I feel it's a near
impossibility. He doesn't like signing and he's on a tight schedule.
I'll get some photos though.

Sue,
If you go and get an extra autograph, let me know. I'm really trying
to find
one that isn't as expensive as those on eBay.

I can try but others had the same idea. Honestly, the chance of
getting anything is slim.

But speaking of the rally, they are not allowing any signs... isn't
that stomping on our constitutional rights???? That's not
American... I am appalled.

We are not allowed any bags or purses either.

I can understand purses, backpacks, etc. because of the ease of a
concealed weapon of some sort. Not allowing signs, I'm not sure how
they are getting around the freedom of speech and expression rights.
Then again, they've been forcing protestors at the conventions to
designated areas blocks from the events. I really don't know how
they're getting around that...

Well I wasn't planning any signs anyway. But I think now that I
consider it, I've not seen ANY signs other than the ones the campaign
gives out at ANY rally since the KKK incident. Did anyone remember
that one a couple weeks ago? About 20 black people (mostly men it
appeared) had signs saying the KKK supports Obama and basically he's a
sell out... also something about Michelle Obama which I couldn't read.
They made them leave. I guess they could make them leave because they
were noisy and maybe there's a noise ordinance, but the news said it's
their right to protest.

Why can't we do it? I wonder now, is McCain doing this too? This may
influence me and my vote. I am not sure where I stand still. They
BOTH suck. Basically I was with McCain until the past week or so.
Originally in the beginning I was for Obama till I sat and logicially
thought about the plans he has... but now, they are both on my nerves.
