With a large stellium in the 8th house, this has never been an
issue for me.

In my 20's I started drinking damiana tea as it had a reputation
for toning the generative organs. (I think that it has since been
found to be detrimental to the liver under long term usage.)
Within only a day or two I literally had strange men I didn't know
knocking on my apartment door. I stopped taking it immediately :-)

Most noticeable to me is the fact that certain planets in
transit situations bring attention my way. I've got to admit
to being of the mind that if you're doing what you're supposed
to be doing that the rest will fall in place.

Personally I don't do magick to bring lovers to me per se,
partially because I figure I may not like what shows up.

Answering these questions from a Wiccan perspective ...

lorax (ty...@houseofkaos.abyss.com) wrote:

cut it with a dagger.

: in Wiccan tradition typically any form of bread, cake or cookie and

Hm. A symbolic Great Rite would involve dipping the athame into
the chalice full of wine. The cakes would then be annointed
with the charged wine using the athame.

Within a Wiccan coven, the sharing of cakes and wine is often a relaxed
more social part of a ritual, a grounding after concentrated
magical work.

I leave an extra cake uneaten on the pentacle in the North as well
as pour a libation from the chalice prior to drinking. This is
similar to setting an extra table for unseen guests at the feast after
a ritual.

: #How do I prepare an area before I cast a circle or build an altar?

If you really want to be fastidious, wash the floors with something
like hyssop or camphor. Ritually sweep it out. Banish. etc.

: #What do I focus on while casting spells?

I primarily focus on raising the energy until I'm ready
to direct the charge. I wouldn't say that I 'cast spells' though.

: #How do I invoke spirits?

Read a good book on this subject. ;)

: #What protects me from harm from them after invocation?

If they're asking basic question about circle castings, they're
not ready to invoke much beyond the Quarters and some benign
God/Goddess figures IMO.

I think this group (alt.occult.kabbalah.golden-dawn) is for

Greetings,

I attended the very first Twilight Covening in western Mass. and
thought that it was a very good concept that for the most part
went well. I ended up in the Stag clan which was fitting for the
mythology I was working with at the time.

I do wish that Andras and Diedre would rethink the fact that they
moved it to Columbus Day which conflicts with another excellent
gathering in the Northeast, Panthea.

I attended the 1rst and 2nd MAPPCAF (Mid Atlantic Pan Pagan
Conference & Festival) which was the forerunner of Panthea.

Unfortunately I arrived too late Friday night at MAPPCAF-2 to
catch Herman Slater's opening ritual, but was treated to imitations
of his solemn 'Darksome night and shining moon' for the rest of
the weekend. ;)

Regards and Blessed Be,

Charla

What the hay, I haven't packed either the herb or sex sections of
my library yet.

Richard Alan Miller in his book "The Magical and Ritual Use of Herbs"
says the primary effect is as a mild aphrodisiac and marijuana-like
euphoria which lasts about 1-1/2 hours. He then gives a recipe for
an aphrodisiacal cordial of damiana and another recipe for a herbal
smoking mixture he calls Yuba Gold. He also gives a reference to
Louis J. Culling's book "A Manual of Sex Magick."

I'm assuming he means Louis T. Culling's book "Sex Magick" which
has an appendix on the herb damiana. Culling gives a recommended
dosage and includes diary entries of his own experience with the herb.

The book "Legal Highs" by Adam Gottlieb lists the same effects
as Richard Alan Miller's book does. This book suggests simmering
2 tbsp. leaves in 1 pt. water and drinking the tea at the same time
as smoking a pipeful of the leaves.

Both herbal books suggest that damiana has a tonic effect on
the sexual organs and that excessive long-term use may be
toxic to the liver.
