Don't know. I am going to get my tooth drilled tomorrow in prep for my new
crown. Ugh. They better give me LOTS of novocaine.

Ewww...yes, I get the last 2 pulled Thurs, the bone supporting several of my
teeth is non existent.....6 had barely covered roots..the teeth come out
real quick cause nothing is holding em in ;-) what bums me out is all my
teeth are strong.....only 4 fillings in the back 4 molars......well at least
I will be saved some money with only needing 2 fillings replaced next time!
I like and trust the periodontist....he retired from the AF 4 years
ago....he was complaining about how small my mouth is and I said....funny I
never had complaints before ;-)

Eeuw. My teeth are actually still okay. Very little bone loss. I floss my
teeth every single frickin' day, but of course, THEY also give me grief
about the one tooth that I cannot floss around. Never say, hey, sweet job
of flossing on all your other teeth. No, they also gripe about the one I
can't get to. That happens to be the tooth that is getting the new crown.
It's been filled more than once and the last time, the dentist put so much
filling on it that there's pretty much no space for the floss to go in.
Hopefully with the new crown, she'll shape it and leave me some space. But
I gots two weeks of trying to keep the temporary in place ahead of me before
the crown comes back from the lab.
I guess I got enough novocaine 'cause it didn't really hurt at all. The
only bad part was at the end when the novocaine was wearing off and the
dental assistant was squirting air into the tooth hole so it would be dry
enough for the adhesive on the temporary to stick. Yikes. Doesn't even
hurt now, but I am not taking chances and chewing food on that side.

I have very tight front bottom teeth and I found using the tiny G.U.M
go-betweens [little brushes on a stick thingy] do the trick, they also have
a handle you can use that bends and that will get behind the back teeth or
between it. Brushes come in different sizes and are easier on my fingers
then floss. Well after pulling the molar next to back one it has become
very sensitive to hot or cold so I feel your pain with the air in a empty
socket.

Oh, my husband has those GUM brushes. The problem is more that I do my
flossing by feel and I can't feel where the division is between that tooth
and the one behind it. I can get in front of it, but not the back. It's
the next-to-the-last molar on the upper right. I would imagine with the
arthritis you would have problems with floss and fingers.
I use Sensodyne toothpaste and that helps with the teeth that are sensitive
to hot/cold.

periodontist and have been using them now for 8 years.
