hmmm... apparently it would be easier to update the graphics than to
port the code from the N64 - as the hardware is very different...

but im not expecting any huge differences, the models and that will
probably be very similar, but the effects and that, maybe even the draw
distance will be improved...

you can't port from N64 to GC. it has to be rebuilt.

also: Ura-Zelda is the biggie...it was never seen outside of Japan (64DD
game) and this is not being ported for the reasons listed above.

rather, being thast it's tied in with OOT but not OOT, it can be seen to
remake OOT...

The ocarina mechanics alone make it impossible to straight-port OoT from the N64
to the gamecube. Since they're rewriting some code anyway, they might as well
replace the renders and stuff ;)1

right, i just mean it wasn't a remake as in the RE remake, or something on
that scale...i don't think anything *new* is being added, it's just being
updated....but hell, to go back to the original post, i wish it were here
too, in any form! :)

dont be so sure. I remember when MM was in development and they were working
on the dolphin shiggers said that a lot of work was going into making code
reusable so games could be developed faster. I may be totally wrong but I
seem to recall this was talking about the zelda code as a test.

you have a good point - they are definitely reusing code now, so they
could very well have been using reusable code back then...

but also consider that the N64 was meant to be a complete bitch to
program for, and the gamecube is meant to be the complete opposite... so
i would guess the consoles are quite different...

yes but the tech demo shown at SW2K was built around the modified Zelda
code - apparently it was a piece of piss to reengineer.
