Despite growing awareness in other countries, it seems the activities
of Florida-based scam operation ''Star's Edge'' and its so-called
self-help course "Avatar'' are still expanding in Holland with the help
of various local accomplices. Many conscious individuals deplore this
sad fact.
Any information (including aliases, descriptions, and criminal
histories) that can lead to legally binding cease-and-desist orders for
any of these individuals is therefore needed and is hereby invited:

This is a call on all Dutch ''Avatars'' to provide us with information
on how these "Masters'' conduct their activities, and what really
happens on ''Introduction nights'', ''Avatar Courses'' (local and
national) etc.
For more details contact the poster (alrik...@hotmail.com) or
Avatarsscam.com co-creators Ronald and Jeta (ronald...@planet.nl and
Jeta@xs4all) with your confidential and anonymous stories.
But you can also contact your local police-station directly.
I'll bet that 2/3 to 3/4 of these people haven't been involved in any
Avatar deliveries for two years or more. The Australian/NZ listings on
the equivalent site (obviously by the same webmaster, with the same
boring design) were trimmed down drastically to less than 1/3 several
months ago. A bunch of US websites have disappeared recently, including
the "cooperative" one for the San Francisco Bay Area.
I'm not saying all these people are hostile toward Avatar, or won't
refer someone in Holland or Belgium to an intro event. But I think all
their names are still there to give an ~illusion~ of presence.
Remember what MInx said about the proportion of Masters to students at
that course a few weeks ago? So many reviewing students and intern
Masters -- so few fresh, new students. What counts is the number of new
people who show up for Resurfacing, go through Part III and then sign
up for Masters.
This is how things happen in cults when it gets down to the True
Believe phase, and the peripheral people are shoved out of the group.
Sort of like what happened to Scientology when they kicked Hari out 20
years ago.

yep there is some model on expansion contraction implosion etc
hARRY's timing was all wrong for someone supposedly ALIGNED witht the
operation of awareness in the planet
shame he hadn't studied with a true master of benevolance... he might v
learnt something
read the hare and the tortoise, look at a forest.... the lesson's are
there for those who can see thru the mystery
;-)
What he studied was the methods of a master con artist named L. Ron
Hubbard. The more I look at it, I don't think he ever studied WITH
anybody. It was more like observation of how to construct the mechanism
-- taking notes on the most effective techniques of kleptoparasitism.

jeez I went to some place u sent me from alt LM... the guy who woke up
out of CoS and is now LOST to most of his family
that Hubbard shees... it's taken a while to sink in... it's like a
little infestation of con-man disese, bubbling on down to werner and
harry
i don't even think they had much original he was just good at
repackaging crowley and mrs beaselys[?] lot into scifi framing
Yes, it's quite a lineage. Hubbard borrowed from a lot of people
without attribution, of course, including Freud and Korzbyski:
http://thisisnotthat.com/sampler/3.html
Whatever he borrowed, he used in reverse to hypnotize and manipulate
people rather than benefit them.
I think the one other than Crowley you mentioned was Alice Bailey, the
Theosophist. Someone (I believe Cody) mentioned her writing as a model
for how to set up a cult organization. Probably this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Group_of_World_Servers
As for Crowley, he thought Hubbard was a dolt and a troublemaker.
Interestingly, Crowley's OTO/Golden Dawn thing was considered
heretical, but he did have a moral bent in his "Do what thou wilt"
slogan, since he defined Will as a developed intuitive ability to act
properly under the circumstances.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Will
Thelema roughly means "will" in greek. The phrase True Will does not
appear in the Book of the Law, the central sacred text of Thelema.
Nevertheless, Aleister Crowley's various commentaries on the Book
routinely postulate that each individual has a unique and
incommensurable True Will that determines his or her proper course in
life. This invention of Crowley's appears to be an attempt to explain
how some actions may be wrong (or "false") when "There is no law beyond
Do what thou wilt." [1] Actions that conform to True Will are thus
considered to be correct, while willed actions that deviate from True
Will may nevertheless be wrong.
Going further back to Crowley's mentors and teachers, one was the
British Buddhist monk Charles Henry Allan Bennett, who wasn't
interested in much outside Buddhism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allan_Bennett
On the occult side, Crowley was originally taught by Samuel Liddell
MacGregor Mathers, who later became a bitter enemy. Oh, and he was
married to the sister of Henri Bergson! Small world.
http://www.kheper.net/topics/Hermeticism/Mathers.html
He was the magical patron of Aleister Crowley, who, following the break
with Golden Dawn members, he saw as his magical heir. But the two men
later quarrelled (after Crowley puplished tracts of Golden Dawn
material in his own magazine, The Equinox), and even conducted an
occult battle against each other. A lot of the negative perception of
Mathers is due to Crowley's ostentatious record of things.
