Well, WHICH Mormons?

The CHURCH has no doctrinal belief one way or another on circumcision. If you
are interested, there is a statement in the book "Mormon Doctrine" by Bruce R.
McConkie. It has been a while since I read it, but it sums it up pretty well.

From my own PERSONAL perspective, I feel great about NOT being circumcised.
My son is also intact - And most of his babysitters have been Mormon. So far
none have raised any questions - though I doubt that a 12-15 year old girl is
likely say, "You know....while I was changing his diaper, I noticed that your
son's penis....." *G*

Based on MY observations, it appears that circumcision among members of the
Church is at least as common as the rest of the U.S. I think that members of
the Church are typically slow to accept new trends - especially where it deals
with the human body.

But that's just my opinion...

Read The Book of Moroni 8:8

It says that the law of circumcision is done away with in Christ. That
is pretty straight forward, Alan. You say that the church has no stand
on it? Do Mormons not heed the word of the Lord? I don't know any
Mormons, but I thought that they usually followed the BoM to the
letter. I do know that they do about their dress and diet.

You are correct that "the LAW of circumcision is done away with." Nor do
we stone to death those who are taken in adultry (pity.) There is however no
"law of UN-circumcision" enforced by the Church. I continue to maintain that
the Church takes no stand on circumcision.

Happy trolls...

I can't imaging most Mormons popping for the procedure for their sons as
the ones that I know are as tight as wallpaper.

Mormons do NOT follow the Book of Mormon to the letter. It prohibits
polygamy, and polygamy became the norm in Mormonism from 1840 to 1890.
There are still polygamy-practicing Mormons (among the twenty-odd
SURVIVING Latter Day Saints cults -- uh, churches) that nonetheless
revere the Book. At the time the Book of Mormon was plagiarized -- uh,
written -- most of those targeted for membership in the "New Israel" were
not circumcised, and Joseph Smith didn't want that to discourage men from
joining for that reason. "Don't let your foreskin keep you out of the
Flock," he might have said. Since World War II most Mormons in the US have
been circumcised, but that has next to nothing to do with their religion.
They do it by and large to show that they're following the latest health
trends. Circumcision, because it's Biblical, has a good reputation among
Mormons, so few of the church's leaders would object to the practice
openly. They would also not demand it of anyone. Since Mormons are
(thank God) concentrated in Western states, where there are large
Hispanic and Native American populations, I'd say that (although more
than half of all Mormon males born between, say, 1940 and 1990 are
circumcised) the general rate among Mormons falls slightly below the
national average and that it is decreasing. As a guess, I'd say that about
70% of non-Mormon males in the US are circumcised, while only about 60% of
Mormon males are. All the Mormon males I have known have been proud to be
circumcised -- of course, a lot of them also thought they were "really"
Jewish -- although at least one had so little foreskin cut off that, from
a distance at least, he appeared uncircumcised. Like a lot of people, he
didn't really know the difference.

I'm not a Mormon, but I do believe their Bible says that God sents you the
child perfect.
Now, square that with Salt Lake City having one of the highest circumcision
rates in the west!

Where do you get your info? I have read that the rate in Salt Lake City
is about 30% due to the Mormon influence. I have also read that Miami's
rate is almost 25% due to the Cuban and Puerto Rican influence. I
don't know where I have read this but I have.
