Pro-Life Group Says It's Ready To Sue

(CNSNews.com) - The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority and
its advertising agency may now be "staring down the barrel of a First
Amendment lawsuit" after rejecting an anti-abortion ad that would have
run on subway trains and in subway tunnels.
This issue was first reported by CNSNews.com last week, after TDI,
Inc., the company in charge of the New York MTA's advertising, turned
down the ad depicting an 8-week-old baby in her mother's womb with the
message "Please don't do it. She's your baby."
The ad was sponsored by the pro-life organization, American Life
League. According to members of the group, they were "orally advised"
by TDI executive Jeff Feinstein that the TDI legal department would
not approve the ad because of its pro-life content.
After its decision on the ad was criticized, TDI claimed not to have
even received the ad, much less rejected it, based on its content.
CNSNews, however, obtained a Federal Express shipping invoice
confirming that the ad had indeed been delivered to Feinstein.
Now, after alleging that TDI was guilty of "disseminating false
information to the media to cover up its illegal decision" to spike
the ad, the president of American Life League, Judie Brown, has gone
on national television to threaten a lawsuit. "All I know at this
point is if we don't get an answer [regarding the ad], we have TDI
staring down the barrel of a First Amendment free-speech lawsuit,"
Brown said Thursday night on the Fox network''s "O'Reilly Factor."
Brown maintains she doesn't really want to sue - she only wants to see
the pro-life ad run. And, according to Brown, TDI has now actually
"expressed an interest" in accepting the ad. Tom Kelly of the New York
MTA confirms that information. "My understanding is that they will
resubmit the ad.and it will be accepted," Kelly said.
Kelly believes the conflict was the result of a "miscommunication,"
and that there was never an attempt to deny the American Life League
their right to free speech. But ALL is not backing off completely.
"Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and we have no intention of
withdrawing the threat of lawsuit until our ad is accepted," the group
said.

Similar lawsuits have thrown out pro-gay advertising on public transit

The MINDLESSNESS of Anti-Choice!
A First-Person Account
"In early 1981 or 1982, I had a chance to go to the 'clinic' in
a mid-western town I was living in. It was a rough year at that
particular clinic; bomb threats, protests, harrassments in general.
My girlfriend at the time, had a doctor that did some volunteer work
there...counciling, women's studies, providing information about
STDs, distribution of contraceptive devices, etc. I know for a fact
that he never actually performed any abortions...
"Anyway, one particular Saturday afternoon, we both decided
to go in to get a refill on her 'script of birth control and decided
we'd find out a little about the IUD from the doctor while there.
"Big mistake. Who knew that the Pro-Lifers would be out in full
force on that particular day...?
"They wouldn't let us enter the clinic. It was a wall, a human
chain around all entrances to the building. They were convinced
we were going in for an abortion. I tried to reason with them by
informing them that I was just going in for birth control but they
wouldn't budge. After an argument with someone who appeared
to be leading the rally, it was clear that they were not going to let
me in at any cost.
"I decided, "hey, I have a right to be here" and decided to try
to push myself through the line in an attempt to get inside the
building. My girlfriend directly behind me. I can understand
peaceful protest but nothing prepared me for what came next.
Someone in the crowd grabbed my hair from behind (it was a bit
long back then) and attempted to yank me out of there. When I
wouldn't desist from pushing through, I was elbowed in the face
and some object, perhaps a picket sign, tore open my cheek (later,
taking about eight stitches). My girlfriend was similarly yanked
down by her hair to the pavement and, get this, kicked in the
stomach. (Think what would have happened if she would have
been pregnant...) I was then pushed to the sidewalk by three
or four guys.
"I still get a bit upset when I think about the audacity of this
group of people. Had I been a little smarter back then, I think
I would have brought charges against the church that backed
the protest. Still, it was a pretty traumatic time...
"As for shame? No, I can truthfully say neither of us felt shame
going into the 'abortion clinic'. We were more disappointed and
upset with the protesters and the church in general.
"[Meanwhile], I had a friend of the family who lived two blocks
from the clinic. On this particular weekend, she wasn't home and
her house was broken into. Her neighbor, got a description on
the three teens responsible for the break in. They were children
of the protesters who were at the clinic. Seems while mom and
dad were busy protesting the the sins of abortion, their children
were breaking into people's homes and helping themselves to
other people's possessions. Kind of ironic when you look at it.

Have you been IGNORING all those times that I've pointed out
that there is NO reason to regard that as an ORDINARY reflexive,

You obviously WANT the "leap" to be due to awareness and joy, but
at that stage of development, such would have been absolutely
IMPOSSIBLE under NORMAL circumstances -- WITHOUT Divine intervention.
This leaves us with ONLY TWO possibilities:
(1) It was LITERALLY a cognizant leap for joy -- which would
have REQUIRED Divine intervention, in a UNIQUE
(considering the ntities involved) situation. OR...
(2) It was merely a perfectly normal, reflexive fetal kick --
which the mother simply CHOSE (call it wishful thinking)
to interpret as a "joyful leap," perhaps with a bit of a
literary license boost from the writer.
If scenario #1 pertained, then there would be NO point in using
this as an example of how normal, routine fetuses behave at that point
in gestation. It's simply a UNIQUE case in that event, controlled
directly by God.
If scenario #2 pertained, then we've simply seen some literary
exaggeration.
EITHER way, this passage has NO bearing whatsoever on the
topic of abortion.

Lived next door to an abortion clinic way back when they threw the
bodies in the dumpster, sure looked like murder cases to me, made me
vomit. I am only here because when I was concieved abortion was
illegal, my parents let me know how I ruined their lives by coming too
soon. On top of this a doctor gave my wife an abortion without her
permission and messed her up in the process so she could no longer get
pregnant (he served time for this, nine years). And we are not allowed
to adopt and would love to. But you knew all this.
I can see abortion as nothing less than murder.

Nothing is impossible with God, and science is not always correct, and
has had to change its teachings many times, I would not trust it as
much as you want to. And I believe it is wrong in this case.
Besides, how is anyone to know God's plans ?, imagine Jesus being
aborted.

It may have "looked" like murder to you -- but it wasn't. On the
other hand, it was tasteless of them to dispose in that manner. JUST
as it would be EQUALLY tasteless for a hospital to publicly dispose of
amputated limbs, etc., in that manner.

On the other hand, if you HAD been aborted, you wouldn't have

You already know that NO Pro-Choicers would have condoned what
happened to your wife, and would have been JUST as willing to
prosecute the quack. You cannot use that as an excuse against
properly-done abortions for women who WANT them.

This screwball argument, which pro lifers LOVE to use, makes no
sense. It is the pro lifers trying to control womens sex lives. You
could use this same argument, for example, if we were discussing the
old middle eastern practice of cutting off a persons hands because
they steal. The argument advocates would use would be ³they just
should steal.² Or perhaps we should sentence drunk drivers to life

a woman claims that in her teens she was impregnated by her father, and
that he "forced" her to have an abortion. A physician (according to her
account) immobilized her and, with the complicity of THREE nurses,
forcibly aborted her pregnancy while she screamed. Why did no one -- not
one of the nurses, not a single person in earshot while she shrieked,
"Help me, they're killing my baby" -- call the cops?
Answer me this, "pro-lifers". If all these evil, ILLEGAL things are going
on all the time ... WHY DOES NO ONE EVER CALL THE COPS?

Sounds like the original goals of the abortion movement to me. My wife
was also forced to have an abortion, because our marriage is
inter-racial, and the doctors was against half-breeds.

ABORTION'S GREAT FRINGE BENEFIT!
WHY is America doing so fabulously well, lately, with an unheard-of
economy? There are MANY interacting factors. But one factor that
CAN'T HURT is THIS one: In tens of millions of cases over the last
27 years, children have NOT been born into hardship in such great
numbers as would have occurred without Roe vs. Wade, and a higher
percentage of children HAVE been born into loving, and stable homes.
That cannot have helped but to have been of HUGE benefit to society.
Can I PROVE that? No. I don't know how we could generate such
statistics. But common sense tells us that this MUST be so. To what
degree, we don't know. But ANY degree is worthwhile and beneficial.
God never gave the SLIGHTEST indication that abortion was wrong,
or that we couldn't make such reproductive decisions. He DID give us
brains, though, presumably with some expectation that we would use
them intelligently within the parameters that He DID establish for us.
We've been doing just that. And there's no reason to change it.

Take it to its logical conclusion, why don't you, a person does not become
an adult until he'she is 18. Why not wait till then. You can play with
