The Sabbath is a test. Will we obey every word that
proceedeth out of the mouth of God --or not? To excuse their
disobedience to the Sabbath Commandment, some
Christians will say that it is only for the Jews; or, what
day we observe isn't really important; or, we probably
can't trace the calendar to when the manna was given, etc.
I am going to answer those objections with the words and life
of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Jesus is the final authority to consult
about the Sabbath and its observance; because he sanctified it
at creation; gave the Commandment; and will judge us all as
we stand before His judgment seat. Jesus said:
"... The sabbath was made for man, ..." : Mark 2:27
The meaning of MAN: anthropos = i.e. a human being.
So if you are a human being, the Sabbath was made for you.
Yes, Jesus Christ sanctified The Sabbath Day at Creation,
for the scriptures say of Him:
"All things were made by him; and without him was not
any thing made that was made." John 1:3
"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all
the host of them.
And on the **seventh day** God ended his work which
he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all
his work which he had made.
And **God blessed the seventh day**, and
SANCTIFIED IT: because that in it he had rested from
all his work which God created and made."
Gen 2:1-3 (KJV)
Jesus Christ was also with ancient Israel in the wilderness
and gave the instructions for gathering the manna. The
record shows us that the **seventh day** is the only day
that Jesus will accept as His Holy Day.
"And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a
cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of
fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:"
Exodus 13:21 (KJV)
The apostle Paul identified the cloud that went with them as
Jesus Christ. (See 1 Cor 10:1-13) So, Jesus knew what
day the manna fell --and the manna was a test to see if the
people would obey Him.
"Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain
bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out
and gather a certain rate every day
THAT I MAY PROVE THEM,
WHETHER THEY WILL WALK IN MY LAW, OR NO!
... Six days ye shall gather it; but on the SEVENTH
DAY, **which is the sabbath**, in it there shall be
none." Exodus 16:4, 26
Please notice that the manna was given BEFORE The Ten
Commandments were given on Mount Sinai. And when
some people went out to gather it on the SEVENTH day;
the Lord referred to the Sabbath as MY Commandments
and MY instructions when he said this to Moses:
"... How long do you refuse to keep My commandments
and My instructions? " Exod 16:28 (NAS)
Speaking of these things, the apostle Paul gave this warning
to the church: "But with many of them God was not well
pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now,
these things were our examples ... "
(See I Cor 10:1-6)
The scriptures reveal that Jesus Christ spoke The Ten
Commandments on Mount Sinai so that ALL of Israel could
hear them --and then, he wrote them on the tables of stone.
"And the LORD SPAKE unto you out of the midst of
the fire: **ye heard the voice of the words**, but saw
no similitude; **only ye heard a voice.**
And he declared unto you his covenant, which he
commanded you to perform, even
TEN COMMANDMENTS
and he wrote them upon two tables of stone."
Deut 4:12-13
Moses, taught Israel statutes and judgments to show the
people how to observe The Commandments of God. Here,
he referred to the test of the manna and its relationship to
The Sabbath Commandment:
"And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD
thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to
humble thee, and **to prove thee, to know what was in
thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his
commandments, or no.**
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and
fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither
did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know
THAT MAN DOTH NOT LIVE BY BREAD ONLY, BUT
BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF
THE MOUTH OF THE LORD DOTH MAN LIVE."
Deut 8:2-3
That is the only place in the scriptures where that distinctive
verse appears --except when Jesus was hungry and was
tempted in the wilderness to command the stones to be
made bread! Matt 4:4, Luke 4:4.
**Every word** that proceedeth out of the mouth of the
LORD includes the Sabbath Commandment! Many
Christians say they have faith in Jesus, and love Him; but
before they receive the crown of life, they must pass this
very same test:
"WILL THEY WALK IN MY LAW --OR NO?"

the veil in the temple and the laws that pertained to the
Levitical Priesthood were abolished at the cross.
The Ten Commandments are established in our lives by faith
through obedience. Paul said:
"Do we then make void the law through faith?
God forbid: yea, we establish the law." Rom 3:31 (KJV)
The Ten Commandments are engraved upon the hearts of the
people who choose to obey them and have the faith of Jesus.
The Sabbath is the Fourth Commandment.

The shewbread is a symbol of the manna given by God to the congregation in
the wildernes of "Sin". David entered the Temple and ate it.
and what is the significance of the "Wilderness of Sin" and the "Bread of
Life"? All mankind dwells in the wilderness of sin here on this earth.
Christ
is the Bread of Life, just as He sent the manna down from heaven, Christ
offered himself up for mankind, as a sacrifice for sin in perpetuity.
Now we either get Salvation by Grace from Christ or we live under that law
and become a debtor to the whole law:
Jam 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one
[point], he is guilty of all.
...and to those that call themselves Christians but seek to live by the law
(These people were called Judaisers in the Galatian Church)

Why I wonder did they want to stone him? Some have said that they thought
Him mad or insane. However the Jews had no
custom of harming people that were insane or "posessed" rather in every case
we see that they are cared for, sometime restrained
in chains, in order to prevent them from harming themselves, but they are
cared for.
There is no doubt why the jews wanted to stone Him, they took his words at
their real meaning, and they understood with the
"ego amei" or "I AM" the was equating himself to the one that spoke to moses
from the burning bush, in other words he was
calling himself God.
So we have God as teh Author of the Old Covenant, and God as the Author of
the New Covenant, and God as the Author and
Finisher of our Faith. This same God allowed his disciples to collect food
on the Sabbath, this same God Forgave sin on the Sabbath,
this same God said that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the
Sabbath, this same God Instituted the New Covenant with
His blood on the Sabbath (passover), this same God provided a method of
salvation that was by the free gift of his Grace, and not
via the works of the Law.

that I have seen. I have however seen others with this morbid afliction

If I may also share the most excellent words of Rabbi Laibl Wolf as one of
Australia's foremost Rabbinical authorities on Kabbalah and its
identification of three dimensions of creation: "Olam, Zeman and Nefesh i.e.
World (space), Time (change), and Soul (consciousness). These are the three
elements that constitute the whole reality of the world - including the
spiritual realms.
Each one of these has its distinctive flow. The soul 'flows' into our
individual being through the bio-machinery of the brain. From the brain the
spiritual energy distributes to the various parts of the body. The soul is
the source of our consciousness - normal and higher consciousness. It is the
source of our personality and is the only real aspect of a human being. The
body not only disintegrates in time but over a decade, not one cell of the
body, indeed not one single atom, is the same as it was a decade earlier.
Yet our personality subsists as new cells are formed and the 'matter' of our
being continues to evolve. Your soul is the real 'you'.
The flow of space, in Kabbalah, derives from the 'holy of holies' in
Jerusalem, on the Temple Mount. Since the destruction of the Temple, the
source of space resides in each one of our inner selves. Mass and energy are
interchangeable. Space derives ultimately from consciousness -soul.
So also does time flow from a source. The source is Rosh HaShannah - the
'head' of the year. This beginning is the first day of the Hebrew month of
Tishrei (this year on 26th September at night). On this fateful night, the
spiritual source of the coming year is 'conceived in G-d's womb' and begins
its inexorable flow for the remainder of the 12 months. The nature of this
flow is to a large extent determined by our own choices, behaviours, and
commitments. That is why the Jewish New Year is not celebrated with
streamers, fireworks, partying, or 'drinkathons'. Rather, Rosh HaShannah is
a time of introspection, meditation, prayer, commitment, as well as festive
meals that signal the confidence and joy in the coming flow of time.

You are compelling people to be self-righteous and pushing them to
live by their own views and interpretations, and not find out what God
wants them to buy when they do their grocery shopping. Understand?

Which Law should Christians follow?
It is suprising the number of Christians who do not seem to understand the
difference between the Commadments given to the nation of Israrel as part
of the Old Covenant, and the Commandments given to Christians, between the
Law (including the Levitical Code) given to a race/nation set apart, that
which Law Jesus preached, and taught, and asks that those believe in Him
live by.
Jesus said:
" If ye love me, keep my commandments. " (John 14:15 KJV)
What were these commandments that Jesus was referrring to? Was He, as a
large number of Fundamentalist Christians claim, telling His followers to
keep the Laws of the Old Testament except those involving aninal
sacrifice?
Not according to Paul!!
The Paul of the Bible summarizes God's law for mankind in one verse:
"For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your neighbor
as yourself." (Galatians 5:14 RSV)
This has become known as the "Royal Law".
If you really fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, "You shall
love your neighbor as yourself," you do well. (James 2:8 RSV)
Jesus Himself went into more detail about what He wants us to do and not
to do. Although we are “saved by grace, not by works” if we follow only
the Royal Law we demonstrate our love for what God through Jesus Christ as
done for us.
It is even better if we can also keep all of the Commandments of Jesus,
since is thew way in which we can accomplish two very important things:
1) Demonstrate to non-Christians that we truly are followeres of
Christ.
These Commandments of Jesus have a very special place of high priority
for all Christians because The Lord said, "If ye love Me, keep My
commandments." (John 14:15 KJV). (Emphasis mine)
2) Help bring about God's dominion/kingdom/realm , the same
dominion/kingdom/realm we pray for every time we say the Prayer That
Jesus Taught Us. "Your dominion/jingdom/realm come, Your will be on
earth as it is in heaven."
Jesus also gave the following instructions regarding His Commandments . . .
" Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to
observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you
alway, even unto the end of the world." (Matthew 28:19-20 KJV)
By these words, Jesus tells us that we are to obey all of the Commandments
He gave to His disciples, and that these Commandments apply until the end
of the world and God’s domion is fully realized.
Here, then, is a fairly complete list of all the Commandments which Jesus
taught His disciples (us) to observe, obey, and live by. I found these in
an article posted to usenet, where someone had taken the time to do a
study of all four Gospels. They are organized into two groups: the
Universal Moral Law, and the Other Commandments Of Jesus.
A summary of His commandments is given first, then a detailed explanation
of each one (where necessary), with Scriptural references.
It is always possible that a commandment or two may have been overlooked.

Details Of The Commandments Of Jesus
The Universal Moral Law
This is the Universal Moral Law regarding your relationship with your
Creator and with all other people on Earth. This law now applies to all
people in all situations, regardless of whatever name they vall God by .
There are three parts to the Universal Moral Law . . .
1. The Law Of Love
2. The Ten Commandments
3. The Golden Rule
THE LAW OF LOVE
"First, love God your Creator more than anything else. Then, love all
other people the same as you love yourself."
(Based on Matthew 22:35-40, restated in Mark 12:28-31 and Luke 10:25-28.
The idea of all people as neighbors is explained in Luke 10:29-37)
"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great
commandment." (Matthew 22:37-38 KJV)
"And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." (Matthew
22:39-40 KJV)
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Throughout the Old Testament, there are hundreds of "commandments,"
covering all parts of life. Collectively, these make up "the Law" of the
Old Covenant.
However, one group of commandments is very special, and it is known as
"the 10 Commandments." The Book of Exodus records that the Ten
Commandments were given directky to Moses by God, written io tablets
stone, and given to all people forever. The people of Israel placed The
Ten Commandments first, separate and distinct above all others.
Most of The Law of the Old Covenant no longer applies to Christians under
the New Covenant (See Hebrews 8:13, etc.) However, the Ten Commandments
still apply, because they were ratified by Jesus in Mark 10:19 and Luke
18:20 when He said, "You know the Commandments."
The Ten Commandments are given in two different places in the Bible, once
in Exodus 20:1-17 and once in Deuteronomy 5:6-22. The content is the
basically same in both places.
Here is the modern restatement of The Ten Commandments. After this is the
translation of the original text.
The Ten Commandments: Modern Restatement
1. "Do not put anything ahead of God your Creator."
2. "Do not make or worship idols."
3. "Do not take the name of God in vain."
4. "Take one day of complete rest each week, in honor of God."
5. "Honor your father and your mother."
6. "Do not commit murder."

NOTE: "Graven images" here means idols, that is things which wee not such
the representations of the Deity, but the Deity Himself/Herself. It
certainly did not/does not mean all drawings or statues, as some have
mistakenly believed. If statues were prohibited, then the two angel
statues on the Ark Of The Covenant would have been prohibited. (See Exodus
25:18-20)
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD
thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the
children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

NOTE: This clearly was a prohibition against private killing, not against
killing in war, in self defense, or as punishment for breaking the law.
God specifically authorized killing in war (see Deuteronomy 7:2, etc.) and
killing as punishment for certain crimes (see Deuteronomy 13:9, etc.
Today meany Christians and Jews agree that at the very least, this command
forbids murder, but there is a wide variety of opinion regarding war,
capitial punishment, and/or self defense.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy
neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor

The Other Commandments Of Jesus
1. "FORGIVE EVERYBODY OF ALL THEIR OFFENSES AGAINST YOU." (Forgive, and be

As you forgive other people, God will forgive you.

"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that

ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive

2. "YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN."
Simply put, accepting Christ as Savior, and being baptized is being born
again. It can also mean, that if you were baptized as a child, raised as a
Christian, but only when you became an adult did you make a choice to be a
Christian, well then you've been born again.
"Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:7 KJV)
3. "ABIDE IN ME, AND LET ME ABIDE IN YOU."
When you accept Jesus and the grace of God into your life, and you committ
to living you life in partnership with Christ, then Jesus abides in you.
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me." (John
15:4 KJV)
4. "LET PEOPLE SEE YOUR GOOD WORKS." (Do not hide your light under a basket.)
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see see your good
works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16 KJV; see
also Matthew 5:15)
5. "END DISPUTES QUICKLY."
This important!!! Failure to end "disputes quickly can not only get you in
trouble (legal or otherwise). Failure to end disputes, clear the air,
resolve problems can let feelings fester, making forgiveness and healing
impossible.
"Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that
thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the
altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come
and offer thy gift.Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in
the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the
judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into
prison." (Matthew 5:23-25 KJV)
6. "WHATEVER CAUSES YOU TO SIN, GET RID OF IT."
"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee:
for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and
not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. "And if thy right hand
offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for
thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body
should be cast into hell." (Matthew 5:29-30 KJV)
7. "DO NOT SWEAR OATHS AT ALL."
"But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's
throne:
"Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it
is the city of the great King.
"Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one
hair white or black.
"But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more
than these cometh of evil."

8. "DO NOT RETURN OFFENSE FOR OFFENSE." (Turn the other cheek.)
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for
a tooth: "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall
smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." (Matthew
5:38-39 KJV)
9. "GIVE WHAT PEOPLE ASK OF YOU, AND GIVE MORE THAN IS REQUIRED." (Go the
extra mile.)
"And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him
have thy cloak also. "And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go
with him twain. "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would
borrow of thee turn not thou away." (Matthew 5:40-42 KJV)
10. "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES AND THOSE WHO WORK AGAINST YOU."
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good
to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and
persecute you;
"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he
maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on
the just and on the unjust." (Matthew 5:43-45 KJV)
11. "GIVE TO THE POOR TO PLEASE GOD, NOT TO GAIN APPROVAL FROM OTHER PEOPLE."
"Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them:
otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew
6:1 KJV)
12. "PRAY PRIVATELY AND SIMPLY, NOT TO IMPRESS OTHER PEOPLE."

17. "DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE FUTURE."
That may seem strange, but considering the level of stress that Americans
live under, this certainly makes sense.
This doesn't mean that one shouldn't budget, plan for a vacation.....but
simply that one should not be caught up in such things to the exclusion of
the NOW.
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take
thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil
thereof." (Matthew 6:34 KJV)
18. "MAKE GOD YOUR HIGHEST PRIORITY, AND HE WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL YOUR NEEDS."

This is an example of what this means to me:
There are some people who just won't hear the Good News that's God's love
is inclusive. No matter what you say, or how you live, they will insist on
being bigots. (Some say Fred Phelps may change someday for example)

This was in reference to the Parable Of The Good Samaritan, who helped and

The Law of Moses or the Law of Jesus?
To a very large extent, the choice is up to each and every person:
One can decide that's God's grace is too easy, that the way Jesus is
insufficent fo salvation, and try to live under the Law, which the Gospels
record even Jesus did not do.

is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any person should boast.....13 But

The New Covenant (that was established with the blood of

fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead

laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I
will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people,**"

THE OLD COVENANT WAS WITH ISRAEL
AND WAS WRITTEN IN STONE
THE NEW COVENANT IS WITH ISRAEL
AND IS WRITTEN IN THE HEART
BUT THE COMMANDMENTS REMAIN THE SAME
Today, Gentiles and Jews, who have faith in Jesus Christ
are the Israel of God. The Ten Commandments (including
the Sabbath Commandment) are no longer written on tables
of stone, but are now engraved upon the hearts of the
people of God.
We MUST obey The Ten Commandments and the teaching
of Jesus --and our salvation DOES depend upon that
obedience. Jesus Christ, The Judge, gives his last warning
to the churches:
"Blessed are they that DO his commandments,
that they may have right to the tree of life,
and may enter in through the gates into the city.
For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers,
and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth
and maketh a lie." Rev 22:14-15 (KJV)
Except for a remnant of faithful believers, ancient Israel was
cut off from God because of their unbelief * (disobedience).
The people who are joined to the New Covenant must
never be high-minded and disobey God --for God is no
respecter of persons!

no, that is not what the Bible says.
The Bible says we are saved, once and forever. Nobody
and nothing will be able to take us away from God again.
If this was possible, God would leave it up to us if he
accept us or not. But, Donna, God knows what he is
doing. He will change us himself, we only have to let
him, and to confess that we cannot do it without his help.
We completely rely on him.

God has not created a world full of puppets! He has

SALVATION IS A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY
The true gospel of Jesus Christ teaches that salvation is a
process that includes ceasing from sin. Therefore, people
who think a "believer" can continue to willfully disobey God
and still inherit eternal life have been deceived into believing
a false gospel.
Saved? Much of the confusion that Satan has spread comes
through those who twist the meaning of the words "saved"*
or "salvation". The Greek word "sozo" implies saving from
danger and represents the act or activity of saving someone,
as in "rescue".
From the experiences of the ancient Israelites, we can learn
about the true meaning of the words "saved" and
"salvation". When Pharaoh was about to destroy the
Israelites, Moses said to them:
"Fear ye not, stand still and see the SALVATION of
the Lord."
Exodus 14:13
When they crossed the Red Sea they were "saved", but they
were still a long way from receiving their promised
inheritance in the land of Canaan. The word "saved" does
not always mean "granted eternal life".
The truth is that depending upon the context of a verse,
"saved" can be referring to any one of the three stages of
spiritual growth:

Through faith, we are born again and have God's promise
that if we endure we shall inherit eternal life. We are
SAVED (rescued) from both the penalty of our past sins

"Work out your own SALVATION with fear and
trembling." Philippians 2:12
Now, begins the process of BEING SAVED from the doing
of sin by the power of the indwelling HOLY SPIRIT OF
GOD. To cease from sin we must:
a. Realize that we have committed a sin. (i.e. a
transgression of The Ten Commandments.)
b. Then we confess the sin directly to God and resolve
to give it up.
c. We ask and rely on Jesus to free us from doing that
particular sin.
d. We are forgiven that sin.
Through that ongoing process, we are being washed and
cleansed from doing all unrighteousness. (1John 1:9).

We must fully surrender our self-life to Jesus. We must
overcome our bondage to the world and sin. Then, our goal

"This generation" in Luke 17:25 means the generation that Jesus was
speaking to back in about 30AD. He has already suffered at the hands
of that generation by being rejected and crucified. The REAL Jesus
already fulfilled that prophecy. Any rejection you suffer by
pretending to be Christ is totally unrelated to Luke 17:25. You are
rejected because Jesus warned us that false christs would arrive
claiming to be Him.
Here is what will happen when the REAL Jesus returns:
Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days
shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the
heavens shall be shaken: 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of
the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the
earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the
clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

The sun is still shining, the moon still gives light, we haven't been
through a great tribulation, the stars haven't fallen from heaven,
the powers of the heavens haven't been shaken, the sign of the Son of
man hasn't appeared in heaven, all the tribes of the earth aren't
mourning, nobody can see Jesus coming in the clouds of heaven with
power and great glory, AND YOU AREN'T JESUS CHRIST.

I died so that you would have OPPORTUNITY to be forgiven of sins, IF

He's NOT interested in the worthless things of this life, for they are
merely tools, needs and sustenance to endure this life. He is concerned if
you are content with that old pile of junk you drive, that hovel you live
in, the Raman soup you eat, because you KNOW that being with Him and in Him
is so much more important, and that HE is your JOY, your happiness, your
pleasure and HIS spiritual gifts outweigh any earthly thing. Our physical
bodies are merely clay vessels that we are housed for a limited time on the

knowledge, commands, demands, and requirements and abide in them to walk in
SPIRIT and TRUTH. He cannot KNOW the will of God, until he has sought,

the ability to be manifested or not. God is NO respecter of persons, so all
who seek, obey, walk, overcome, discipline themselves into righteousness,
purity, holiness, obedience, and servitude are given whatever power and

Man was CREATED with FREE WILL, thus his CHOICES are those of good or evil,

There are two "rests" being discussed in the fourth chapter of Hebrews.
Rest #1. The rest we are to enter:
"...while the promise of ENTERING HIS REST remains, let us fear
lest any of you be judged to have failed to reach it."

Rest #2. The sabbath rest:
"...And God rested on the SEVENTH DAY from all His works."
Heb 4:4
"So then, there remains a SABBATH REST for the people of God."
Heb 4:9
What some people have failed to notice is that those who enter
God's rest (Rest #1) are those who keep the sabbath rest. (Rest #2)
All you have to do to understand the two rests and their relationship to
each other is to listen to what the Scriptures say and let the Bible
define itself.
Please take a moment to look at Hebrews 4:9 again in its entirety:
"So then, there remains a SABBATH REST (#2) for the people of God,
FOR
whoever enters God's rest (#1) also ceases from his labors, AS GOD
DID FROM HIS."
Now the question is: How did God cease from His labors? The answer has
been carefully supplied by the author of Hebrews in verse 4:4 above...
"And God rested on the seventh day from all his works."
If you do not REST on the seventh day from all your labors (Rest #2),
then you will not enter God's REST. (Rest #1)
In their search for "liberty" from the law of God, they have completely
missed the contextual message of Hebrews Chapters 3 & 4.
That message warns New Testament believers not to harden their hearts
through disobedience and rebellion to the commandments of God.
"Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, that no one fall
by the same sort of disobedience. Hebrews 4:11
That is my message to all who have been taught that they no longer have
to keep the sabbath holy...

Many Christians believe the phrase "the word of God" in that verse
refers to the Bible. As you will soon see that is a dangerous error.
I am convinced that "the Word" in that verse refers to Jesus Christ
and to think otherwise will take away from the serious warning given
in that passage. In order to prove that let's take a closer look at
that verse in its context:
Hebrews 4:9
"So then, there remains a sabbath rest for the people of
God;
4:10 for whoever enters God's rest also ceases from his
labors as God did from His.
4:11 Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, that no
one fall by the same sort of disobedience.
4:12 For the Word of God is living and active, sharper
than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division
of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and
discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
4:13 And before HIM no creature is hidden, but all are
open and laid bare to the eyes of HIM with whom
we have to do.
As you noticed, I capitalized "the Word of God". In the original
Greek text, words were not written with upper case letters as we
do in English. So whether the translation reads Word or word,
in either case it is simply the translator's opinion. My point
is that there is nothing which demands that "Word" be translated
"word". Rather, it is the context that decides.
When looking at the entire context of Hebrews chapter four, I am
convinced that in this verse, "word" could refer to nothing other
than the "Word of God", Jesus Christ our Lord. Here are my reasons:
1. The phrase "the Word of God" comes from the Greek "o LOGOS tou
Theo". LOGOS is the same Greek word which the apostle John used when
he said:
"In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God and the
WORD was God." (John 1:1)
And again in Revelation 19:13, where he said: "...and the name by
which He is called is the WORD of God. In these verses the Word of
God is clearly the Son of God.
On the other hand, It is also true that the same Greek phrase
"logos of God" was used to represent the written word of God, but
in those verses it is always clear that it does not refer to the
Son of God. That is not the case in Hebrews 4:12. In fact, one
must stretch his imagination to the breaking point in order to
believe that the Bible is "living and active" or that the Bible
(an inanimate object) is able to "discern the thoughts and actions
of my heart". No, these are the characteristics of a resurrected
and living Saviour. For example, the word of God says this about
the WORD of God:
"...for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands
every plan and thought. If you seek Him, He will be
found by you; but if you forsake Him, he will cast you
off for ever." (1 Chronicles 28:9)
"And all the churches shall know that I am He who
searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you as
your works deserve." (Revelation 2:23)
2. My second reason for believing that the "Word of God" refers not
to the book - but to the author of the book, is that the same passage
which says the WORD of God is "living and active" also says:
Hebrews 4:13 "And before HIM no creature is hidden, but all are
open and laid bare to the eyes of HIM with whom we have to do."
How could the Bible be referred to as a "him"? In my opinion,
those who translate "Word" with a small w, are following the
traditions they have been taught instead of looking closely at
what the scriptures really say. As I was discussing this with my
wife, she asked a very good question. She said: "Why do you think
that Satan would want this obvious mistranslation to be taught?
What could he gain from this?" So we prayed and studied the verse
to find an answer.
The first thing that came to mind was that thinking that the "word
of God" meant the Bible would lead people away from the obvious
warning of this verse - that it was Jesus Himself who is searching
our hearts and is going to judge us according to our intentions.
The second thing that came to mind was: "Judge our intentions about
what?"
A quick look at the context answered that question. Verse 4:11, says
that we are to be wary of falling by disobedience, and a previous
verse (Hebrews 4:9) tells us what particular kind of disobedience
of which we were to be wary...
"So then, there remains a SABBATH REST FOR THE
PEOPLE OF GOD; for whoever enters God's rest also
ceases from his labors as God did from his."
"Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, THAT NO ONE
FALL BY THE SAME SORT OF DISOBEDIENCE."
The warning is clear, Jesus is looking at the intentions of our
hearts about the sabbath. If we know to keep the sabbath day holy
and then go ahead and break it by working for money, or setting it
aside in order to keep our worldly pleasures, we will fall by the
same sort of disobedience which caused the Israelites to fall in the
wilderness...and because they fell they never entered God's rest.
God knows the secret intentions of every heart, including yours.
So be honest with yourself; hasn't the Holy Spirit dealt with you
about keeping the sabbath day holy? Have you obeyed fully?
In an earlier part of the same passage in Hebrews, the author
gave this alarm...
"TODAY WHEN YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,
DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS IN THE
REBELLION."
Who were they that heard and yet were REBELLIOUS?
Was it not all those who left Egypt under the leadership of
Moses?
And with whom was he provoked forty years?
Was it not with those who SINNED...
And to whom did he swear that they should never enter
his rest, but to those who were DISOBEDIENT?"

Dear Reader,
Have you heard His voice today and ignored it?
Those who knowingly break God's Sabbath are rebellious and disobedient
sinners who have hardened their hearts as in the rebellion of the
Israelites. They will never enter God's rest because by not "ceasing
from their labors as God did from His", they refuse to honor the
God of creation who said: "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy".
That is the message that Satan wants to keep Christians from
hearing!

As I said, God created the earth in six days and rested on the seventh. To
God, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day. The
earth is six thousand years old, thus representing the six days of God
working and man working to resist and overcome all evil, enduring evil UNTIL
the redemption and deliverance comes, which is in the second coming. The
millennial rule of Christ, for the SEVENTH millennium is the REST that
Hebrews is speaking about.

that will happen before God sleeps for a thousand years?
I say that Rest means a whole lot more then some thousand implied years
that you state.
