For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in
earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians
1:16-17 KJV)
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord,
which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. (Revelation
1:8 KJV)
I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great
voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the
last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven
churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto
Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and
unto Laodicea. And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And
being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; And in the midst of the
seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment
down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head
and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were
as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned
in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in
his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged
sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. And
when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand
upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last
(Revelation 1:10-17 KJV)
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and
the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the
water of life freely. (Revelation 21:6 KJV)
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to
the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For
without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and
idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine
angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root
and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (Revelation
22:13-16 KJV)
1x1x1=1
The Father is even greater than the Son. If you have seen the Son, you
have seen the Father.
If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from
henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord,
shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I
been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he
that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew
us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the
Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but
the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am
in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very
works' sake. (John 14:7-11 KJV)
The Holy Spirit is Jesus Spirit on earth, powerful and unifying us with
the Father and the Son.

3. Jesus said, "If your leaders say to you, 'Look, the (Father's) kingdom is
in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you,
'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the (Father's)
kingdom is within you and it is outside you.
Jesus said no such thing.
This is from the heretical Ebionite book, the so-called "Gospel of Thomas"
(which was probably a totally perverse rewrite of Matthew's Log).
Ike
Then why do scholars now date Thomas to 50AD.
OOOPS, Ike shows himself to be an idiot all over again.
Smile.
Ah, no, you do.
No legitimate scholar would date the book to 50 AD: The idiot author has
Jesus telling the Disciples to take their problems to "James the Just."
Problem is, there WAS NO "James the Just" in Jesus' day.
First, the term "James the Just" was coined by later theologians (2nd/3rd
century) to differentiate between all the different guys names "James" in
the New Testament.
Second, James the Just was a SECOND GENERATION CHRISTIAN who NO ONE WOULD
HAVE KNOWN IN JESUS' DAY.
No, the spurious "Gospel of Thomas" was written by an Ebonite heretic
sometime after the temple was destroyed. The Ebionites hated Jesus' Gospel
of Grace, so they removed any mention of it. That also led them to adopt
James over Paul (whom they completely rejected) because they thought they
could use James "legalism" (as they interpreted him) to substantiate THEIR
legalism. They also denied the Divinity of Jesus.
(Of course, such ridiculous heresies would appeal to a heretic such as
yourself.)
Anyone with a lick of sense knows that the so-called "Gospel of Thomas" is a
completely spurious.
But, of course, you, not having a lick of sense, may feel free to continue
upholding it, making a fool of yourself in the process--be my guest.

Really. So when Eusebius tells us that James the Righteous (Just) was the
Lord's brother and first Bishop of the Jerusalem
Church, in your idiot mind, he did not exist.
What would one expect from a follower of Saulus the apostate.
You are getting to be more of an idiot every day.

FROM WIKIPEDIA:
Saint James the Just (Hebrew: ????) (Greek I??????), (died AD 62), also
known as James of Jerusalem, James Adelphotheos, or James, the Brother
of the Lord, was an important figure in Early Christianity. He is
generally identified by Roman Catholics with James, son of Alphaeus and
James the Less.[1]

The post by Zadok is FAR MORE likely to be the true words of Jesus than
any of the fascist christian bullshit you post, IKE. But that's because
you're a hater, and want a messiah that will roast everyone you hate.
The quote from St. Thomas is real spiritual wisdom, and is fundamental
to real Christianity. The problem for Evangelical/Fascist Christianity
is that it says that religious experience is for everybody, i.e. the
"Kingdom" is right in front of you, but men do not see it. The Kingdom
is right here on earth. You are looking at it right now. Almost no one
today is able to see it, however. Evangelical/Fascist Christianity is
all about "Jesus is Lord", that Jesus is King and we worship him.
Christianity is all about Jesus. This is bullshit. Jesus is DEAD and
gone. We are the living. We are all the children of the Kingdom. We are
not here to be the slaves of anyone, not even Jesus.
Christianity has been altered. The real truth will come out in the next
20-30 years.
That is the problem with wikipedia.
Cath0_licks only say that, because they refuse to believe Mary had other
children.
James is identified in the bible as the brother of Jesus!!

Sage, no point in discussing anything with Ike.
The man is an idiot.
Smile.
Actually - since the BIBLE is a catholic produced book - they do have
an interpretation for that too
THey say that James was the son of Joseph - from a prior marriage.
OF course - catholics are probably right to believe that Mary had no
other children - since a MYTH actually never has any.
The cath0_licks had nothing to do with the bible.
Constantine, ordered the bible put together.
And so it was done.
It hasn't changed much from what the PAGAN emperor decided should be in it!!
> THey say that James was the son of Joseph - from a prior marriage.
Just another of their fairy tales.
Smile.
sorry - but it was the catholic church that compiled the bible and
decided what would be included
To date - no church has ADDED any additional things to the bible -
although they have removed some.
Hey, moron: When did Eusebius live?
"First, the term "James the Just" was coined by LATER THEOLOGIANS (2nd/3rd
century) TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN ALL THE DIFFERENT GUYS NAMED "JAMES" IN
THE NEW TESTAMENT..."
> ... tells us that James the Righteous (Just) was the

Hey, moron: James the Just was bishop of Jerusalem 40 YEARS AFTER JESUS WAS
CRUCIFIED.
The Disciples KNEW NO "James the Just."
> What would one expect from a follower of Saulus the apostate.
Still waiting for you to show where Paul taught a different Gospel than
Jesus, or, better yet, Jesus taught a different Gospel than Paul.
> You are getting to be more of an idiot every day.
It only seem that way to you, oh, prophetically ignorant one.
James the Just.
Contemporary with Jesus and the Disciples.
What a laugh.
The EBIONITES upheld "James the Just" as their hero, oh, ignorant one,
because they, being heretics like you, threw out Paul, because he taught the
same Gospel of grace that Jesus taught, which they also threw out, because
they thought they could use him to uphold their legalistic/Pharisaical
agenda.
And thus they took Matthew's "log" and perverted it into the so-called
"Gospel of Thomas."

Your quotes of your belief tome (the bible) clearly point to the

Does scripture tell us anything about His energy that we have
described? or the Spirit's unifying function?
r m
Yes, there are tons! Start with Genesis 1 and stop with Revelation
22:21. The whole Bible spraks of God and His power, the Holy Spirit one
of the three persons of God. See how He is doing it. Read the Gospels
and see how Jesus healed or cast our demons or woke up dead people.
Oh, and when God created in the beginning, He did so by saying it.
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and
you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and
to the end of the earth " (Acts 1:8)
or the Spirit's unifying function?
"For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body - Jews or Greeks,
slaves or free - and all were made to drink of one Spirit" (1 Cor.
12:13)
My observation is that this power is waining. You know with the Holocaust (
those were the chosen people no? , how many people have died from venomous snake
bites when the bible says that protection from vipers is a sign, the list is
quite long........
I thought it would be a good idea to google for your statements and see
where they come from, and - what do you think I found? One of Griz'

fairness and copyright you should have mentioned the source, though.

Betreff: The hunt for spiritual energy
Hi everyone.
Some ideas from my journey both in Christ, and from a time when thought
that
nature and human nature were the best teachers that I had. But this
shared
in Christ, and in the Spirit. Test them in His Spirit and consider
them, or
not, as you each see fit:
The world abounds in the energy of God's Spirit.
Yet sin separates us from that energy and leaves us spiritually
depleated.
Think for a moment of the various feats of survival that we see in
nature as
a matter of course -- and the relatively minor things that we see end
human
life just as frequently.
We are constantly working in a condition of energy-defecit because we
are
apart from God. When God's Spirit is active in us, we are connected to
the
very Source and His energy flows through us like a conduit. This is the
source of miracles, wonderous signs, and those amazing people who keep
giving and giving of themselves, yet never seem to exhaust their own
energy:
because they are not relying in their own limited energy but on power
from
on High.
But in the flesh, we are daily starving for spiritual energy. We
produce
small amounts daily as a function of the life-process happening in us
(the
breath of God that gives life): enough to let that car enter traffic in
front of us and feel good about ourselves, to give a pittance to the
homeless person on the street or to love those who love us, or to power
a
spiritual gift for a short while (Matt 7:22)-- but not nearly what we
need
to flourish in all abundance on a spiritual level for any length of time
without depleating ourselves.
The most readily available source, it seems to the flesh, is each other.
So
we set about on missions of spiritual assault and predation to try to
steal
that energy from each other by forcing them to question, to concede, to
pay
attention to us, to protect themselves from us, to admit we are right,
to
identify with us, to pity us. These missions of predation seem to
follow
one of four paths, depending on our personality and on what has worked
the
best for us in the past. Understand that these things happen on a
sub-conscious level that may have escaped our awareness up until now.
But
to be aware of them is the first step in overcoming something that has
been
controlling us -- and hurting others -- for a very long time. Not
necessarily due to maliciousness. It is usually ignorance of Spiritual
realilties that is the culprit -- and something that none of us can
feel
superior about.
The most aggressive people try to rob and pillage the energy they need
from
others through acts of aggressive indimidation. When we experience
either
fear at their intimidation -- or indignation that they would dare to try
to
intimidate us or others -- then our energy is focussed upon them and the
receive a feeding of our energy and our attention.
One step down from that, are those who seek to acquire energy and
attention
from others by 'interrogation'. They question and poke and prod and
challenge and hunt until they find even one small thing they believe is
out
of order; then they unleash their attacks. They 'feed' by forcing
people to
constantly protect their flanks, then to defend against the inevitable
attacks. They are hunting for spiritual heads to bust, but are not
aggressive enough to consider out-and-out intimidation.
The more introverted people seek to get energy flowing their way through
aloofness. If they are enough of a mystery, people will turn their
energy
upon them to try to figure them out. They 'feed' when others stop what
they
were doing, to try to figure out what the aloof person is doing,
meaning,
saying, believing, suggesting etc.
Lastly are those who seek to bolster their failing energy levels by
playing
the "poor me" card. They try to get people to pay attention to them by
playing on other's guilt -- sometimes quite expertly and over many
years.
They can cause fits of guilt in the unprotected, by simply looking at
them
or with a comment or accusation or a claim of being hurt. While not as
aggressive as an intimidator, it is still a very effective act of
spiritual
violence upon others.
People do these things without realizing it -- based on the patterns
forged
in their childhoods. If their parents were intimidators, their only
defence
is to become a 'poor me' -- or in time, an even stronger intimidator
than
their parents. If their parents were interogators, they would have to
become aloof to keep them from stealing all of their energy with their
endless barrage of questions and seeking out errors. If their parents
were
aloof, they would have to become interrogators to try to get some
attention
from them. And if their parents were 'poor me's, then they would have
been
totally ineffective as parents OR as energy-sources and the child would
have
been forced to either try to 'out-do' them or to develop one of the
other
three 'control drama's, based on whatever significant others they might
have
been able to latch onto.
The thing is, none of these 'control dramas' are necessary when we are
connected to God! He provides us with such energy that our cups are
full
and overflowing . . . that we will never hunger or thirst again.
Never again will we have to seek to 'feed' upon others to gain that
which
God provides in abundance.
I will close by publically observing that there are a LOT of spiritual
predations going on in the body of Christ that gathers here right now,
and
leaving the conviction in the hands of the Holy Spirit -- where it
belongs.
If something stings, ask God why. Don't shoot the messenger! None of
your
energy is sought, asked for, or received.
I already have an ample supply!
Yours in Christ,
Griz

"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was
and who is to come, the Almighty." (Revelation 1:8)
He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning
and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of
the water of life. (Revelation 21:6)
"Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man
according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the
Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who do his
commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may
enter in by the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, the
sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and
everyone who loves and practices falsehood. I, Jesus, have sent my angel
to testify these things to you for the assemblies. I am the root and the
offspring of David; the Bright and Morning Star." (Revelation 22:12-16)

"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God... I, Jesus, have...
Jesus is God, the Alpha and the Omega...
> Try again
"I and the Father are one." John 10:30
Paul said about Jesus, that He "..is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created,
that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible,
whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all
things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things,
and by him all things consist." Colossians 1:15-17
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall
conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14
Immanuel means "God with us"
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God. John 1:1 The Word was Jesus as you will find out if you just
read on there.
"Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The
words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the
Father who dwells in me does his works." John 14:10
Jesus said, "...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how
sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? John 14:9
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was
manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached
unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 1
Timothy 3:16
Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither
know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my
Father also. John 8:19
Jesus said, "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins:
for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." John
8:24
Jesus to John, "Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that
liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and
have the keys of hell and of death." Revelation 1:17-18
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Revelation 22:13
I am sorry that you cannot get over yourself, and just feel to reject
God's Word when it is presented to you as you desired.
Methinks you are mixing it all up...
What is your real problem? Or is accusing God the only problem you can
think of? Why is that so?
Source didn't matter and never intended to be a personal critique on
anyone: I was tossing ideas around to see how they stand up.
On the HS as unifying us to the Godhead and energy:
Neither the Early Fathers, nor the creeds, nor statements of faiths
describe the Holy Spirit as energy. It's certainly not teaching I've
come across in the various churches I've attended over many years.
So, it's novelty makes me wonder if it is indeed accords with orthodox
teaching on the matter.
The description I cited (sorta) reminds me of Gnostic teaching on the
Divine Spark or oriental worldview on the universal energy Qi, Chi, or
Ki that's associated with supernatural things like healing and
miracles that James Redfield once wrote about.
I've found that the few scriptural occasions don't say anything about
energy [energia] as described (AFAIK). None of those 8 references of
energia relate to the Holy Spirit, but surprisingly one attributes
energia twice to Satan himself i.e. 2Th 2:9-11.

Well, we do have real Gnostics here, and you should probably talk with
them... (Not to name someone, but I would keep an eye on "Pastor" Dave
or Michael Christ) Griz was surely none but fought them. I hope that
helps.
By the way, I can repost many more of Griz' posts if you like. :-) He is
really a wonderful brother in Christ, and I can tell you this - He has
been over many years.
Your loss.

As I've said, I'm not into who said or did what, just tossing ideas
around to see what can be made of them.
There is a subtle link with demiurge (the creator God of Gnosticism)
and energy in that demiourgos shares the same lexal with energia
[energy]. This is why the frequent appeal to energy took my
attention. Such attention to energy is alien to scripture.
It's difficult to understand Gnosticism because of it's diversity in
teaching and practice, and was a fashion of culture during the Early
Church much like materialism is to our times.
I don't think we can say there are true Gnostics today (unless overtly
an adherent to an established Gnostic ch) so one would hardly
encounter them thru normal circles, let alone in ACC.

Accusing god of what? How can you accuse something that does not exist? That's
like saying Bugs Bunny stole my car, how silly.
Sorry - but the bible remains a collection of beliefs of your religion -
not of proven truth
but then you come

I do not have to
THe bible is a part of your religous beleif - not an article of faith
IF you want scripture to be included then the Quran cleary states that
the christ was NOT a god - was not the son of a god and did not die on a
cross either.

I do not ask for scriptural proof - I asked for a scriptural quote -
which YOU do not have
If you accept scripture as proof then the christ is already falsified by
the Quran.
Again - I said that there is no place in the bible where the christ
claims to be a "GOD" -
He never uses the word
None of the REvelation quotations have the christ using the words "I
am a god"
so that supports MY statement

at one with (someone)
- to share the same view as others, to be in agreement with others
The members of the committee are at one with me over my decision to

(There are other sources for that - read Plato -= Aristotle - and
Socrates - or the Talmud - and lots of others . It actually is a
common error of theists - since the idiom is still in use in Hebrew
and other languages)
However - if the chirst was saying that - his father was Joseph.

Among the most basic missions that the Messiah will accomplish during
his lifetime(there is no mention of a second coming in the bible)
(Isaiah 42:4) are to:
* Oversee the rebuilding of Jerusalem, including the Third Temple,
in the event that it has not yet been rebuilt (Michah 4:1 and Ezekiel
40-45)
* Gather the Jewish people from all over the world and bring them
home to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 11:12; 27:12-13)
* Influence every individual of every nation to abandon and be
ashamed of their former beliefs (or non-beliefs) and acknowledge and
serve only the One True God of Israel (Isaiah 11:9-10; 40:5 and
Zephaniah 3:9)
* Bring about global peace throughout the world (Isaiah 2:4;
11:5-9 and Michah 4:3-4).
There are over a dozen additional prophecies which the Messiah will
also achieve (there is no mention of any “second coming” in the Tanach
or the New Testament). In order to avoid identifying the wrong
individual as Messiah, the Code of Jewish Law dictates criteria for
establishing the Messiah's identity (Mishnah Torah Kings 11:4):
"If a king arises from the House of David who meditates on the
Torah, occupies himself with the commandments as did his ancestor King
David, observes the commandments of the Written and Oral Law, prevails
upon all Israel to walk in the way of the Torah and to follow its
direction, and fights the wars of God, it may be assumed that he is
the Messiah.
If he does these things and is fully successful, rebuilds the
Third Temple on its location, and gathers the exiled Jews, he is
beyond doubt the Messiah. But if he is not fully successful, or if he
is killed, he is not the Messiah."
And none of that happened - it would have taken more than a myth to
fulfill those things

That is because not a single quote you made included the word "GOD:"
in it - not one
ANd I said that there is no place in the bible where the chirst claims
to be a god.
And your statements so far support MINE
YOu can put a SPIN on all the words you claim -= but they still do not
add up to anything otherwise.
The Advanced Christology that is found in the johnny-come-lately
gospel of John (100 CE) makes Jesus pre-existent and one with God.
Irenaeus, a second century bishop, claimed that the disciple John
wrote it. But the John gospel's dating, Platonic philosophy-like
introduction, anti-Semitism, Jesus-God equivalency, and dependency
upon the Greek Septuagint pretty much rule out authorship by that
native Judean disciple. The synoptics (70-80 CE) portray a humbler
Jesus who does not tout his own divinity in long metaphorical sermons
(I AM this and I AM that) as in John, but speaks in short, pithy
parables and pronouncements. The Gnostic gospels portray an exulted
Living One as well, but have a more obscure and metaphysical Greek-
and Egyptian-influenced take on cosmology. Thomas is a simple sayings
gospel like Source or Q. Thomas has Jesus telling the disciples to
rally around James, because he was the reason for which all creation
came into being. The Clementine gospels cite James the Just as a high
priest of the Jerusalem temple from just after the crucifixion until
he was thrown from the parapet of the temple and stoned. This
evidently occured sometime before 70 CE, when the temple was
destroyed. Paul speaks of visiting the "pillars," James and Peter in
Jerusalem, but never mentions high priesthood for James. They
commision Paul with apostleship to the Gentiles and with collection of
funds for the Jerusalem poor. These poor came to be known as
Ebionites, the Hebrew word for poor. Peter and James probably adhered
to a stricter, more Judaic messianism than Paul. Luther did not like
the book of James (he called it an "epistle of straw") because of its
works-above-grace doctrine: "Faith without works is dead" and "True
religion is helping the orphan and the widow". The Gnostic gospels
are authentically ancient and portray an alternative stream of
Christian thought. They were only labeled heretic after church
fathers opted for a divine, pre-existent, world-saving, Son of God
iconography with a dualistic Pharisaic heaven and hell containing
angels and demons and a final Day of Wrath. There are modern-day
Gnostics and discussion forums about Gnosticism, by the way.
I see NO proof that a god exists in your statement
So - that remains BELIEF = not truth
AND - Any statments made by anyone OTHER that the christ still do not
change the CORRECT statement that the christ NEVER claimed to be a god.
(none of the quotes supplied USE the word "god")
However - in addressing the issue - the christ supposedly said the
following (Supposedly because the whole story is not proven to be more
than a fable)
John 5:31
If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
John 5:30
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is
just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.
Now if you actually read the above two quotations from John - it is
clear from them that he is NOT the same being as the being who sent him
- because HE can not do anything by himself -= and he has to please another
It is clear that he is NOT a god (He has no power) - and the one who
sent him is someone else.
Snipped more nonsense
THe statement made was that there is NO place in the bible where the
christ claims to be a god - he never uses the word "GOD" to descrobe
himself. That much remains unquestionably true. While people LOVE to
male quotes that they SPIN to imply it - he never actually SAYS it. He
ALWAYS references the "father" for that one.
In addition in John 5:30 31 He makes it clear that he is NOT a god with
his statement
30By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment
is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.
31"If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid.
He says he has NO power to do anything - and includes that he was sent
by another. That means he is NOT the father - and therefore is NOT the
creator god. ANd 5:31 is clear that he is not what others are saying he is.

I don't think that's true.
Gnosticism was purely European which flowered from the time of Christ
and peaked toward the end of the 2nd century.
New Age, however, traces it origins from the late 1800s about the
time of Madame Blavatsky and the Theosophical movement which borrowed
heavily from traditions and cultures outside Europe. In recent times
it was picked up by the post war baby boomers who explored Eastern
philosophies [e.g. counter-culture, transcendental meditation, Feng
Shui, chakras, Tai Chi, yoga, etc.]. Therefore New Age is relatively
recent and should not be con-fused with Gnosticism.

Power and energy are different words in the NT which uses both in

are a charismatic touchy feel good movement. That does not in my

I'm with you on that.
My first exposure with Gnosticism was with some coursework at uni
which covered the period of from the apostolic times to the medieval
time. Points that stayed in my memory were demiurge, dualism, Divine
Spark, and asceticism. It's been many years now and I'm afraid I've
forgotton much and would not consider myself not up to speed. But
enough to be confident that Gnosticism and New Age are not synonymous.

Hi Roy,
My inadequate study ( I have a lot to learn) and experience of energy
(power )is that it is definitely present. It's very much a part of our
mental, emotional and physical bodies.
The early church fathers may not have called it energy but I believe
they understood the effect of how our minds and hearts send forth an
emotional charge in every thing we do.
I believe they called it spirit, sometimes Holy and other times
Evil. Their is an emotional input, output often associate with God's
power. When they felt an emotional cleansing it's as if their is a bond
with God whether it be a heartfelt experience or a cleansing of their
sins. It's definitely a presence you feel. Is it power, is it energy,
is it ki, chi, emotional accord with a group of people...???
Depends on the situation.
On an individual level emotions emitting from a person tend to *speak*
more about that person than their words. I feel the Bible is very much
based on mans emotional input as well as his output. I feel that Jesus
knew what a person was thinking cause he could *sense* it, feel it and
could tell that person what they were thinking based up their emotional
bodies. We cannot hide from our inward selves..God sees the heart. Does
it look like energy that he sees? What is seen when we're acting up?
A person cannot hide their feelings, emotions, motives nor their intent
from God. The Beatitudes I feel are based on proper ways to think and
act. And in a proper set of principles on *ways* to think a person tends
to *emit,* flow or send forth an emotional charge or energy as its
called today.
When someone is angry they send off an output of energy, or emotion.
Anger, noticed its called *out* rage as it comes out of and is quite
noticeable, this charge of electricity, energy, power *if* they have no
self control of it can cause them to act in a manner they will later pay
for. The tongue gives testimony to this.
What goes around comes around
The emotions of love, patience, kindness.etc send off an energy, a
positive emotion, or in your case of someone who wouldn't use the word
energy you would say they're full of love, they send forth love and
kindness because that is what they emit, they want to be this kind of
person so this is what flows (energy) from them but this also has to
flow in them and through them.
What goes in must come out..
As far as saying it's always of the Holy Spirit this I cannot tell.. I
do know God created all things on earth. I give him credit for creating
things unseen, yet present. How we identify with this unseen presence,
not even the presence but the mechanism of how it works in conjunction
with thoughts, attitudes, emotions and actions is fascinating and
probably lawful. Just because the Bible doesn't go into much depth on
how it's defined today doesn't mean it didn't exist back then. We just
have a different way of describing physiological things today.
I find it interesting that people never stop to think about their
emotional output and what it does to their bodies, their mind and their
soul.
As far as Qi, Chi or Ki it very well could be something associated with
healing, people call it different things... If one chooses to pray to
God for healing and is willing to take on the responsibility I don't
think God cares what we call it. An Eastern culture doesn't use our
English language and we as a Western culture should not be so close
minded to the possibilities that God *has* to do things "our" way or by
the church's decree. .
I find it interesting that the Chinese have much more longevity and ease
of body movements in their elderly years due to exercising their bodies
and understanding how energy flows, this they believe comes from God. I
just don't know why the West is so afraid that energy is harmful to
their health. Perhaps they like to think energy, power, well being, God
only flows from a church setting ???? I however don't think we can
contain God in any one place, person or study... I realize it's better
to learn than to fear.
But then again their is more than one definition for that one too.
Fearing God is not the same as fearing knowledge.
.
The key is balance.

There you can find the beginnings of "German Baptists", founded by
Johann Gerhard Oncken. There is also a difference between the "German
Baptist Church" and the Baptists in Germany who do not call themselves
"German Baptist Church", but something that would be translated "Free
Evangelical Church", in contrast to the Evangelical State Church that
gets its money from taxes from the state. Oncken was the founder of the
Baptists in Germany, as they are in America, Europe, Africa, Australia

Your dogmatism which wishes to force everyone into your way of thinking (and
Randy Young's way of thinking) is from a past age. It is authoritarian in
nature rather than authoritative.
You seem to be a slow learner.
Good news is not bad news.
Good news is about love, freedom and authoritative truth.
Bad news is about hate, dogmatism and authoritarian demands.
Griz, Tom and Randy Young were all authoritarian males which you blindly
followed just like your country followed an Austrian maniac through the
1930s to 1945.
After being a Christian for ten years it is time to grow up.
Acts 10:34ff.: "truly I perceive that God shows no partiality, but in every
nation any one who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him."

surprisingly accurate. Those that remember more than just the bad
know my neighbor in Florida is a hyper Calvinist. You do remind me of

I respect many people of different races and religions as long as they
do not try to tell me what to do. You think you have some power to

How does that reconcile with the teaching on Christ's omnipresence?
> Nowhere did I write the three Persons of God are "in" God. Where did you

Let me rephrase: God who is three - the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit (my words).
Much like: water as liquid/gas/solid, or egg with shell/white/yolk, or
space having height/width/length.
I thought so that there is no difference for you.
Umm.. you might not really believe in wind or electricity and magnetism,
either, right?
Since wind - electricity - and magnetism exist and can be PROVEN to
exist - I have no reason to doubt them.
However - billions of theists over thousands of years using the best
techniques of the times with almost unlimited funds have failed to
produce even a single piece of testable and verifiable proof that any
gods exist.
Many theists claim their almighty all everything gods are not subject to
earthly proof to get around this - with huge obvious flaws in that
1 - If a god is almighty - it should be able to prove its own existence
in any case - why is it that the first thing theists do is tell us what
their almighty gods cannnot do
2 - IF there is no earthly connection that can be proven - then where
did they get all the stories of their religion from - since they are
agreeing in essence that they have never had any connection with a god.
3 - THe things religion claims about gods are self - contradictory to
begin with. WHile there are LOTS of contraditions that cannot be - an
example would be the nonsense of FREE WILL. IF a god is all knowing -
past present and future (AS noted in the Baltimore catechisms definition
) - then the ONLY choice ANYONE including the god has - it to do what
that god already knows will happen. Even the god cannot vary from it -
making it not almighty.
4 - IF a god cannot be earthly proven or disproven - then ALL of them
are equal in that regard and there would be NO WAY ON EARTH to establish
a difference between them - so you could not actually choose among them.
And then - when they point to natural phenomena - they still fail to
connect that to anything about the convoluted contradictory stories they
make up about their religions (Called scripture).
ALL supernatural stories of religions and gods have equal provability
- ie NONE.
TO date - humans have named - according to Wiki Philosophy- over 28
MILLION gods - and if you actually believe religions - the Universe has
been created and recreated several thousand times.
Yet - in all those creation stories -All INSPIRED by their so called
almighty and all knowing perfect gods - none of them actually get the
actual conditions of our solar system correct - much less the rest of
the Universe. THe planet in the bible is clearly NOT the earth - for
example.
And worse - you can usually contradict what people say about their
religions when they quote their scripture - by quoting another part of
their own scripture.
Bu the biggest indictator of the basic falsity of religion is that the
people decide what they want to believe. THat is why there are so many
different beliefs here in this group alone. THere are strict bible
fundamentalists who even believe everything the bible says is true and
that the reality of our world is an illusion. THere are those that
accept some things (some only accept parts of the old testament) - and
not others.
IF there truly was a god - it would define itself in a single definition
that would be provable to all. THat even the 39,000 + christian sect
cannot completely agree on one - speaks volumes. Clearly - with over 28
million gods - and hundreds of thousands of religions - and millions of
beliefs - the contradictions alone mean that they cannot all be true.
AS an agnostic - I accept only what is PROVEN to be true about religion
and gods - and nothing about them is proven
However - the agnostic position remains the ONLY supportable position on
the subject. THeists cannot prove their gods exist - and atheists cannot
prove otherwise. I will always be on the side of truth.
> So you have a problem with the fact that the Holy Spirit is on earth as
> Jesus said, and Jesus and the Father are in Heaven now?
SO .........
IF
Jesus is in heaven
THEN
he cannot be invited into your heart unless your heart is heaven
IF
God is in heaven and not on earth
THEN
God is finite and bound by space

I also find that very strange.
Apparently a Chrostian newbie with a bible also knows more than biblical
scholars who have spent their lives studying the biblical text and who train
clergy.
> How does that reconcile with the teaching on Christ's omnipresence?
It is not the Christ of God's omnipresence that is a concern for me but
God's own omnipresence. If God is not omnipresent then He is finite. If God
is finite then He is a mere creation rather than the Creator.
ANd what is so unusual about that here in these newsgroups?
After all - no matter HOW LONG one has studied the bible - none of it is
verifiable text with a single agreed upon meaning even by the biblical
scholars who argue the basic meanings of single words - and get the
obvious meanings of regularly used idioms wrong.
There are now (According to the Jesuit University) over 39,000 different
christian sects = simply proving that the beliefs are subject to human
interpretation - since NO god has come forward to set a single - set in
stone - definition of what anything in religion means.
And until that day happens - it is ALL opinion - and unprovable. That
means the most educated may be wrong - and the least might be correct as
well.
The same goes for Christ: if He's not omnipresent, He can't be
omnipotent nor omniscient since these are inseparable.

It depends on whether they are informed by the Spirit (aka 1Cor
2:12ish).
Therefore exegesis is simple -
"Whatever you do with the Scripture: Be aware that you are in the
sphere of the Living God when you read it. Treat Him like God who is
speaking to you. Reckon with His voice. Listen when reading ... God
does the exegesis. He speaks. You listen.
Simple, huh? Try it out. "

r m
No - there is NO basis for your statement or the prior one at all.
THe fact is - in the real world - things like this can be judged - when
we have the author of the works and their ability to support what was
meant to be. Of course - for the majority of the bible - we do not even
know who originally coined the stories - much less who wrote them down.
However - Whether you are "in the spirit" (Which cannot be determined to
begin with) or even if you have LONG studied knowledge of religious
writings has no proven connection to whether your opinions as to what
they mean has any validity. Even for a person has studied the bible his
entire life -and knows it in its original form - understands the
original language - and has taken great pains to consider his statements
- it would mean nothing if the real god's name is ALLAH or VISHNU - or
NONE of the above.
And since NO ONE can actually establish that a god exists =- statements
about religious scripture will continue to be unprovable opinion.

None of the so-called "proofs" for God's existence works. Maybe the
definition of God needs changing.
It makes no difference what humans define their gods as.
THe only thing that would establish a true definition is a god coming
forward to verify the statements. And none have!
It is just another proof that gods are HUMAN creations - and defined
by them
ALl they are - are fictional characters created and defined by humans
Until they can produce a god to establish a definition of one -=
anything they claim is nonsense
Gladys is a great example of this - when she said that gods do not
exist in our finite world - and no earthly proof exists for a god -
BUT SHE knows what is real about them and which one is real. IT is a
shame what dementia does to an 80 year old woman!

Really!! So you don't know that which man calls natural is of God. Shirley
you're not trying to tell me that you didn't know that warm air rises, cold air
sinks, and it's this movement dictated by God that produces that which is called
"wind". Are you, are you, are you??? Of course you are, silly little boy.
