Detergent Finger Paint
Liquid dishwashing detergent
water
Food coloring or tempera
Add water slowly to detergent until you get a pasty mixture. Add
coloring.
Liquid Starch Finger Paint
1 cup liquid starch
1 tsp. tempera powder
Slowly add tempera to liquid starch until you the desired color.
Paste Finger Paint
Flour
Water
Food coloring
Mixing flour and water provides a very economical paste. Add food
coloring to it and use it as finger paint. Add water to flour until you
get a paste consistency, easy to spread around but not to thin or runny.
Soap Flakes Fingerpaint
Put soap flakes into a mixing bowl, adding water gradually while
beating with an electric mixer. Consistency should be about the same as
stiffly beaten egg whites. Add coloring while mixing.
And in my son's class they did something with kool-aid, but I couldn't find
the recipe.. Hope this helps.

I saw a daycare teacher use shaving cream once. It had a different texture and
smell than regular fingerpaint and it got the tables awfully clean. ;)
