I run win 2000 and I want to play chessmaster. I bought CM7000 and all it
does is crash. Even with the "patch".... I am tired of buying buggy crappy
software thinking that it will work and finding out that it does not work.

Chessmaster has a disclaimer on their web site stating that Windows NT and
2000 are not, and probably never will be, supported by their products. My
own experience with Windows 2000/Chessmaster 8000 is that it will work for a
short while, a few days/weeks, but starts to experience problems soon
after. Specifically, I lost the ability to use Personalities in the
Tournament Room after about 8 rated games.

Hope that helps,

K.

It is not sold as working on Windows 2000. On the bright side, I have
had no problem with it on 2000 (after the patch). Only issue at all
is audio crackles on startup. Works on XP for me two. I would guess
it might be having a problem with your Video Driver as so much
software does. Usually NVidia GeForce problems. Don't know why for
sure.

I use CM 8000 with no problems except the GM kicks my ass. I run it on
a PIII 450mz platform, windows 98. I have used 7000 as well on the same
platform no problem, except the GM kicks my ass.
