company-earns-tens-millions-faking-American-style-degree-certificates.html

A Karachi-based IT company, Axact, has been accused by software agencies
of operating 370 bogus institutions.

The company’s fake education empire encompasses hundreds of high-schools
and universities with mostly American names.

At least 370 fictitious high-schools and universities operated by Axact
were discovered by an American media group.

Former Axact employees have denied news reports claiming that the degrees
were not real, and Axact founder Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh has refuted all the
allegations against his company.

The company, whose student customers are from the United States, UK, and
Persian Gulf states earns tens of millions of dollars in revenue from
people across the world.

The firm, with a team of over 2,000 employees who are mostly educated
youth in Karachi, creates fraudulent websites, mainly using deceptive
tactics.

Axact’s employees use cold-calling methods to rope in new students. Some
of the Axact employees impersonate American government officials, who
bully potential customers into purchasing US State Department
authentication certificates signed by John Kerry.

The company’s websites sells such forged documents in West Asian countries
for thousands of dollars.

The alleged dubious dealings of the Pakistani company were exposed by
Declan Walsh of The New York Times. The report claimed to have busted the
education scam in which students, mostly with American-sounding names,
were duped.

The report claimed that the company earned millions of dollars from
thousands of people across the world.

The report said that the main source for the story was a former Axact
employee who was identified as Yasir Jamshaid.

He is “said to have fled to Dubai with internal records of more than 20
customers who paid a whopping $600,000 for degrees and diplomas they
thought were from reputed American universities”.

“One person from Saudi Arabia paid $400,000 for fake degrees and
associated certificates. Another man from Egypt paid $12,000 for a
doctorate in engineering from Nixon University and a certificate signed by
the Secretary of State John Kerry.

"Mr Jamshaid said the degree was nothing but a piece of paper,” says the
report.

“The websites are meticulously created and forcefully marketed, mainly
using deceptive tactics, five former employees of Axact told the NYT," the
report adds.

"All the happy students and professors in promotional videos are actors.

Axact employees use cold calling tactics to bring in new students."
