I've got a question about how routing decisions are made, or if anyone
knows of a good document that explains exactly how routing decisions are
made based on routing protocols and routing informaiton.
I know that the first factor of course is Administrative Distance, i.e.
Connected(0) before Static(1) before EIGRP(90) before RIP(120) etc., but
how about decisions made about routes of equal administrative distance,
i.e. summarization of routes, etc.
I guess my question is what are all of the factors involved in routing
decisions, and what is the order in which those decisions are made. It
seems like I should know this allready from my CCNA, but at the time I
was actually going for my CCNA I don't think I was quite at the level I
could completely understand what each step really meant.
If anyone could clarify the process beyond Administrative Distance, or
point me to a good resorce describing the process, that would be great.
Thanks in advance,
Josh
