I'm currently working on getting my Network+ certification, but am not
A+ certified. I have looked at the online practice tests, and the
books for A+. Most of the information is extremly familar. I've worked
with DOS Win 3.1. The areas of customer service, and some of the
physical hardware. My question is: has anyone here done these two
exams together? Also,should I put Network+ on hold till I get A+?
There seems to be a good bit of overlap with the OSI model and the
general OS usage stuff. Recomendations appricated.

I just recently got A+ certified, and am now studying for the network+.
There seems to be very little overlap. If you aren't certified in anything
else right now, I would reccomend first working on you A+, and THEN your
network+. Having a basic background in computers with familiarity with
hardware, software etc, the A+ was pretty easy to prepare for, I bought mike
meyers' book and read it cover to cover. The book is actually a good read
and gives you almost all the info you really need. I then went to
cramsession.com and looked up the A+ exam cramsession, and I was set. pretty
easy.

Another reason would be that A+ seems to be more generally recognized than
network+, and I have found that my cisco CCNA certification isn't worth
anything without a core certification such as A+. It kinda like "yeah you
know everything about networking, but do you know how to use a PC?"

The a+ is easy, do it first. Then Network plus.

Yuppers, just like being MCSE without the A+. Both of these is almost
a pure requirement to use together before going out job-hunting. Here
again your basically saying, "Great, you know everything about Windows
2000 but we still use Dos/Windows 3.1/Windows 95,98/NT4, do you know
how to use them?"
