Maybe this is specific to the Android 4.0.4 on the Sony Experia ST21a2, or
maybe it's a more universal problem, but it's just getting to be a drag to
be always inadvertently setting off the "reject with message" option (that
comes alive at the bottom of the screen when a phone call comes in) in the
course of fishing the phone out of a pocket when it starts to ring there.

Is there any way to prevent that option from showing at each inbound call,
and having only the green (Answer) and red (Refuse) icons show up then?

Thanks! And cheers, -- tlvp

I can't answer your question, but I can say that I've never had that problem
because I stow my phone in my pocket 'feet first', so that when I grab it to
slide it out of my pocket my fingers are at the top of the phone, not at the
bottom where that message tab is.

Interesting response, Paul, thanks. I may have to revise my approach.

I had been sliding my hand all the way down in my pocket behind the phone
until my long fingertips (index, middle, and ring) could curl under the
bottom edge, and then, with my thumb grasping the top edge, I'd pull the
phone out (same way I pull out my wallet).

Whether stowing the phone 'feet first' or 'head first', that exposes that
"reject with message" sensitive area either to thumb or to longer fingers,
with the disastrous results I described.

Got to learn new habits, I guess :-) . Thanks again. Cheers, -- tlvp

Ah, so that's why.

Mmm ... probably more trouble (for me, anyway) than the problem's worth.
But thanks for the explanation and the suggestion. Cheers, -- tlvp

I have this on my Samsung also, so it's not specific to your phone/release. Like you, I hate it. I never use it (I don't even really know what it does at the other end), but it seems to engage accidentally all the time. Most of the time you can "reverse-swipe" it to make it go back down, but not always in time to actually answer the call.

I wish there was a way to disable it.
