I've purchased several smart phones for Pageplus from Digicircle.

It's safer than craigslist since they test them and since there's a
short return period (30 days) but often they are more expensive than
finding a private party.

All of a sudden they have a big stock of the HTC Droid Incredible 2 in
both white and black and many of them are in what they say is "Like New"
condition. The price is about $67-75. The condition codes they have are
"Like New," "Excellent," "Very Good," "Good," "Fair," and "Wear." I've
only purchased things in the "Like New" and "Excellent" categories.

One thing I like about the HTC Incredible 2 is that it's a world phone
that supports both CDMA and GSM (all 4 bands), so you can use it with a
T-Mobile SIM (if you unlock it) and you can use it outside the country
for voice (no 3G for GSM). I paid $8 to get mine unlocked. When Page
Plus crashed a couple of months ago I just switched to the GSM side for
a few hours.

The Digicircle search engine is extremely poor so it's difficult to find
specific products. Search for "HTC Droid Incredible 2" and you get a
screen full of Windows phones. The least painful way seems to be to
search by carrier.

1) what carrier's the HTC Droid I 2 currently SIM-locked to?

2) what's it take to get the device to browse, when activated on Page Plus,
despite the VZW locks on its web browser?

3) changing focus of attention to a 4-year-old Samsung Sway (U-650), what's
it take to get *that* device browsing, when activated on Page Plus, despite
the VZW locks on *its* web browser? Any way to (re)adjust its APN settings?

Thanks much! Cheers, -- tlvp

Verizon. The one I bought from a private party has a Verizon branded SIM
card in it. One I bought from Digicircle had no SIM card.

I never had this problem. I use the Dolphin browser on Android but the
stock browser works fine too. On any phone, including Motorola Droid,
Motorola Droid 2, HTC Incredible, and HTC Incredible 2. All the phones I
use are rooted when I get them.

No idea.

my guess is Verizon

Why would there be locks on a browser on an android device? It should just use
either 3G or wifi

Shouldn't Verizon's telephone CS line then be willing to provide the SUK
right over the phone for you, at no charge?

Maybe Android phones just don't have the problem that Moto RAZR V3 and
Samsung non-smart handsets (a-930, u-650, etc.) have with getting past
Verizon's garden-walls when trying to do WAP browsing. That's be nice :-) .

Time to trade up to a smarter handset, I guess :-) . Oh, well ... . Cheers,

Not if you're using the phone on Pageplus.

For the HTC I purchased a code for about $8 and it worked fine. For a
Motorola Droid 2 Global I purchased a code from
<http://cellphoneunlock.net/> and the codes they sent did not work. Nor
would they provide a refund as their web site promises, "Our cell phone
unlock service is guaranteed to be 100% successful or you will receive a
full refund on your unlock code purchase." They lied. I later found out
that for the Droid 2 Global only Verizon has the actual codes that work.
I would have to have an actual Verizon customer put that phone onto
their plan in order to get the unlock code.

Interesting contrast to at&t. While I've never been an at&t wireless
customer, they've given me the SUKs for three different verizon- or
at&t-branded GSM phones I've salvaged and ultimately put into service with
either T-Mobile or various European GSM carriers, no sweat, no hassle.

What a drag. I hope your bank card company let you do a charge back on them
for the 8 bucks.

Sounds like a bit of a drag, as well. Moral: seek an HTC Droid Incredible 2
that's *already* un-SIM-locked :-) . Thanks for the extra details. Cheers,

I could not find any of these. But it was easy to unlock.

Brainfart above -- not "verizon" but "cingular" :-) . (You'da thunk I'd'a
known better than to commit such a gaffe!) Cheers, -- tlvp

Unlike the Motorola unit whose unlock code, as you sold to you, failed. So
I guess you pays yer money and you takes yer chances :-) . Cheers, -- tlvp
