A relative of mine told me about this news story. I wish I would have
known about it in time to submit some of my own dead spots, but from the
looks of the very, very long list for Verizon, either KSTP used
deadcellzones or this newsgroup, as well as comments from users. It
looks like many of the locations I've noticed myself are in the list.
So, now at least I know I'm not completely crazy and out of line for
bitching so much! It looks like there are plenty of other people
bitching also.
It is sure interesting to see the different views. Users expect
coverage everywhere VZW claims on their map. Users don't differentiate
between VZW and Extended coverage, they just want their phone to work.
While VZW will put an excuse next to most of the problems that say,
"well, that's not our network, we can't do anything about it"!
There is even a comment that they are working to fix the problems in Elk
River. Good luck! Are they finally planning on buying Cell2000 or
Qwest? That's the only way I know they can fix any problems there.
Just more proof that either they don't care about MN, or VZW is clueless
about the future. This area has been one of the fastest growing regions
for the past couple of years, and they are now finally thinking about
offering service there? That doesn't seem right, especially since it's
a suburb of Minneapolis.
They also have comments from the other companies, but I haven't had a
chance to review them all yet.
Anybody know how many credit minutes for dropped calls a person has to
accumulate before they will think about filling a hole? Tonight the
lady told me I was out of my coverage area in Plymouth, there are no
towers in this town. Well, I know there aren't a lot, but I also know
there are 2.

You make an excellent point. Without extended network coverage, Verizon's
plans would be worthless.

Thanks for the pointer....WOW, VZW, that's quite a LIST!
I guess the complimentary phones at KSTP are not gonna be
delivered....(c;
Hmm...Nextel's list isn't half as long. Guess we'll hear the usual
excuse about how many more customers Verizon has is the
reason....zzzzZZZZ...

Anybody seen the tower crew in Minnesota?.....(c;
REGULATION is the only solution. We've been screwed by them all
"doin' their own thing" for way too many years, to the detriment of
safety and the consumers.
Here is an interesting link as well. It cites the lack of native verizon
coverage in this state and it is glaringly obvious that roaming is a way of
life outside of the Twin Cities metro. It also hints at capacity issues,
which makes it seem odd that Verizion is pushing the advertising campaign
here to hard.

If the features I want (CID, VM, Q2N) work, then I personally
don't care whether I'm in an Extendend network area or native.
If I cared about M2M, I guess it would matter.

You mentioned tower crew, I don't think they have one of those around
here, hell, every time I talk to CS or a tech, I get someone from PA who
usually doesn't even know what state Minneapolis is in, let alone how
big it is!
I think the tower crew was here about a year ago, I think they were here
to rob some parts for other markets! The sites used to have 5 panels on
each side, now they only have 4!
Maybe if we ask really, really nice they will bring back some of the
capacity? Oh, then they could they improved service! Wow

LOL, then there will be a Verizon monopoly and you will have something
else to bitch about. MB

If Verizon owned Sprint PCS, there would be nothing to bitch at Verizon
about in Minnesota, except perhaps Analog access, which is already superb in
this state.
Tom Veldhouse
Natively, in Minnesota, YES, it is. SprintPCS, T-Mobile, Nextel, QWest,
Verizon in that order.

That depends entirely on where you spend your time.
I find VZW coverage much better that QWEST.

Yow! As someone who used Nextel for 3 years before switching to Verizon,
I can't agree with that statement. My Nextel was unusable in many areas
outside of the greater Twin Cities area (as well as in many of the
buildings I worked in IN Minneapolis). No such problems with my Verizon
phone so far - it was usable all the way up the North Shore to Grand
Marais, and even in Ely - International Falls - Lake Kabetogama! Try
that with yer Nextel/Sprint/T-Mobile....
Guess next time I'll really have to screw with their heads and see what
kind of response I get.
I've always just assumed that either they should be able to see my
number from CID, or when I type it in. I would hope the computer would
tell them what market I am calling from, and what market is my home!

I made no reference to coverage quality, just coverage of geographic area or
population.

about coverage quality, I am talking about coverage by geographic area or
