(remove _NO_SPAM_)!
42001 is your local PRL with ERI right now. I only just heard of the new
ones from a recent post here.

With ERI, the roaming indicator will come on solid when you're on a system that
is a partner. That is, it's on solid when you're not on Verizon but you're
still NOT going to pay extra for the call.
The roaming indicator is flashing when you are able to make a call, but the
call will cost extra.

Other way around. Flashing is Extended Network. Solid is Roam
Extended Network = you won't pay. Roam = you will pay.

Most current phones will show a solid or flashing roaming indicator, but
ERI-capable phones will give the additonal indication of a 'message'.
Many phones do not have this ability. But phones on Verizon that do,
show:
-VERIZON WIRELESS
-EXTENDED AREA
-ROAMING
A simple flashing/solid indicator is not an ERI. The ability to make
ERI work requires a combination of proper phone software (firmware), and
proper PRL software. For example, earlier versions of the v60 are not
ERI capable, newer ones are. Both have a roaming 'indicator', but the
ERI-capable phone will show the above words.
I may be missing a few important details, but the ERI capability
determines which is the correct PRL for your phone. The good news is,
your phone will operate properly with a different PRL, it's just that
the roaming indicator may not do exactly what you want.

For ERI f/w vers. 2101.03.28.05. At least that's what my P270C shows.
IIRC, the f/w for the V60C is the same as on the P270C
And to correct Bill it's Extended Network not Extended Area as your second
option. :^) Although it may be Extended Area. Mine says Extended Network
GSC,
Yes, in your SW version, the ".03", is the Motorola upgrade to ERI.
Thanks for the correction, I wasn't even looking at what I put after
"EXTENDED". I don't have ERI, and would rather not have it.

Motorola v120, v60, 270 (all of course with the correct firmware)
LG 510 - with the latest firmware, just got a batch of these in last week,
guess I will have to get mine flashed.

I have a kyocera 2135 which had eri until I went to local digital, now
it doesn't show the 'Verizon Wireless' banner, but there is no roaming
on local digital in area, so it doesn't matter. (The phone still shows
roaming and digital roaming banners, but no 'extended network')--

Enhanced Roaming Indicator. Lets you know if you're roaming on or off
the network by a banner.
