Any of the Timeports or newer StarTACs are TDMA/analog phones.

Yes they are but the ones you can normaly buy you can't force your phone to
analog. ATT takes the feature out

Hey, I was up there myself last Tuesday. From Banning I had a "useable signal"
until I lost sight of the desert. From there on, anytime I got sight of
Hemet/San Jacinto valley, I would get a useable signal. Passing thru
Idlywild... 4bars without a hitch. Heading down the hill to Hemet was mostly
useable signal with only a small dead spot or two. I did get a ROAMING signal
nearing the bottom of the hill... about 4 miles east of Hemet that lasted for
about 1 mile.
