-----BUT-----
Many of you have suggested that a way to lock onto SPC is by dialing
*22803, or some variation. Doesn't this replace the SID in your phone
with a new one?
If you need to preserve your older PRL, will dialing *228xx to lock onto
another carrier blow it out?
Finally, once you have dialed *228xx and locked on to another carrier,
how do you return to "normal", with the PRL you started with?

No. It ATTEMPTS to activate your phone on SPCS but SPCS does
not honor *228 so it fails. As a hangover effect the phone
will stay on the PCS channel for a while.

No, but no may change at any time. Be careful with playing!

Power cycle the phone if needed.
Worst case *288xx back to the correct carrier.

Please, no guessing!
The XX after *228 reflect the BAND where the phone will look
for a signal and attempt to activate.
*22800 - Cellular A, *22801 - Cellular B,
*22802 - PCS1900 A, *22803 - PCS1900 B, *22804 - PCS1900 C,
*22805 - PCS1900 D, *22806 - PCS1900 E, *22807 - PCS1900 F
SPCS in my area is D. *22805 gives me "the feature code
you have entered is not valid" and the 'Extended Network'
banner on the display.
If your home carrier is a B carrier (cellular with an even
numbered SID) *22801 would "take you back" - assuming that
the *228xx you tried in the first place took you away...
Play carefully ...
JL
That's *228xx and it is LATE!

Just out of curiosity, do you know if anyone has recently "interpereted"
any PRLs numbered 5005x? I know that you don't do that sort of thing
yourself anymore -- of course --, but was just wondering if you knew
anywhere online that someone's opinion might have been posted........

5005x PRLs are the same as 50047, with the differences being the roam
indicator. 50050, 51, 52, 53 are Single Rate and Single Rate Canada
PRLs (2 without ERI and 2 with).
There are about 20 or 30 variations of the most recent PRL 50047 and the
only differences are with respect to roam indicator.

*22805 works for me in my home area...Are the other variations valid in
other parts of the country? Also in my home area, I am in a B cell making
*22801 valid. The A area fails.
Thanks for the thread....really cool stuff.

My T720 has PRL 50049, but, there's another setting called ERI Version,
which is set at 50019. Anyone know what this is for?
If PRL 50049 if non ERI, why would they release a brand new phone that
doesn't support ERI?

I think I misinterpreted the original message to read all 5004xx PRLs were
non-ERI and 5005xx were. I keep forgetting there are different ranges for
different service types.
