Very Poor Verizon Lake Tahoe Coverage

I have a StarTac 7868 and spent the last weekend in Lake Tahoe. I was
totally appalled at the lack of Verizon Cellular Service on the North side
of the lake in the Cities of Incline Village, Tahoe Vista, and Tahoe City.
Most of the time I only got one bar of digital signal and therefore dropped
many calls and the phone ate batteries! I was traveling with friends that
had an ATT phone, and they had almost full signal strength on the A side.

I thought that carriers on the B and A side typically located cell towers in
the same area. In the case of North Lake Tahoe, this is definitely not true!
Verizon is definitely inferior!! I was very surprised since the North Lake
Tahoe area is frequented by many tourists, I would assume that Verizon would
supply excellent coverage in this area.

I travel throughout the USA and normally Verizon cell service is superior
to ATT cell service, however in the case of North Lake Tahoe, Verizon does
not even compete!!

I can tell you coverage over here in Lake and Mendocino Counties currently
is horrible too. But they are converting all the existing towers to digital
over the next couple of months, and putting in 17 new sites in the two
counties alone, so I would bet that they are planning on some serious
improvements in that area too, being such a popular tourist destination.

coverage here in Santa barbara, CA is excellent. Verizon beats AT&T
and Cingular combined.
Verizon rules the land over here.
