If you go to the SPCS web site, as I'm sure all of the regulars in this NG
are doing, there is an announcement of the service with a pointer to the
SPCS web pages containing all sorts of information. Of particular interest
is the listing of phones that are "data capable."
The "single band StarTAC" is listed as being data and update capable with a
firmware update. However, they also list a "Digital StarTAC," the dual band
one?, as being data, web, and update capable "out of the box." Also listed
is the QCP2760, the dual band version of the the currently available
QCP1960 - waiting for mine to arrive to give it a try. In answer to many
questions, the Nokia 6185 is currently data and update ready with a browser
update to be available. Also listed: PdQphone, a variety of Samsungs, and
other phones which are not currently listed on the equipment pages. So, I
guess there is a whole bunch of new hardware becoming available for SPCS.

Paul
