Hi folks :

I am on the $49.99 plan with an add-a-phone option that Sprint PCS
charges me an additional $10. Last month I called up SPCS Advocate and
signed up for an additional 500 night & weekend minutes with a 1 year
agreement. When I received my recent bill, I see that they are charging
me $10 on the second phone for add-a-phone and also they are charging
me an additional $10 on my primary phone for add-a-phone. When I called
Sprint PCS Customer Care, they told me that I can have only 2 free
options (either long distance minutes & weekend minutes) or (long
distance & add-a-phone) and not all three. So I do not see what is the
advantage in me signing a 1-yr agreement for the weekend minutes when
they are charging me an additional $10 for add-a-phone.

Has anybody experienced this in their billing ? Speaking the the Sprint-
PCS Customer Service people is like speaking to a wall. They will NOT
listen to you. Any suggestions ?

Joemon,

It's pretty clear that you haven't read any of the other posts on this
subject. It states on the website and I believe on the pamplets as well
for the add-a-phone option, it is $10 a phone. That means it is 10 per
each phone (you can only have 2 phones).

You need to check out what you are doing with your phone.
Are most of the calls LD??
Do you get close to half your minutes usage a month?
When do you do the majority of calls? Days of week

If you are only calling LD once in awhile, you probably should drop the
LD. If you are using over 250 minutes a month, your wife is probably
using the same amount or more which will cause you to go over your
allotment. If you are under each month and don't make many calls on
weekends, you should probably drop the weekend minutes.

The website and the options agreement specify that you can only have 2
options on a 1 year agreement. If you want more, it will cost you, the
same principle as if you buy anything else. I.E. a car, a stereo, a
house, or whatever. You get the basic items and the luxury items are an
add-on.

And finally, the CS reps are listening to you, YOU are not listening to
them. They are only restating what has been listed and told to you about
options. Go to the website and work your way through it. You don't have
to buy anything, it will show you exactly what you can get when you do
order. The same thing the reps told you when you called them.

Was your old bill $60? If it was you already had the AdvantageAgreement
bonus. You can have up to 5 phones with add-a-phone. The current Holiday
Promotion of $49.99 for 2000 min incl LD requires the AA. If you do
add-a-phone on top of that there will be a $10/phone charge. On page 3 of the
Holiday Promotion brochure they show it set up that way in the family section.

Perhaps he beleived the customer care adbvocates who will routinely tell you
the charge is $10. There have been official sprint resellers on this
newsgroup INSISTING the net charge is $10 as well.

I had the exact same problem with Sprint recently. Although it may be
spelled out somewhere in the web site, I never ran across it. All I ever
saw was "Add a phone for $10". So, I called them and said "Add a phone!" .
When the bill came and it added $10 for EACH phone I called and complained.
The first person I spoke to said she could waive the charge for one month,
but that was it. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and one called me back in
about 10 minutes. We had a long discussion during which I told him the
advertising was misleading. If adding a phone means now having to pay $10
on BOTH phones, then the ad should state, "Add a phone for $20". Eventually
he agreed with me that it was confusing and offered to credit my account for
$120 ($10/month x 12 months), but said that at the end of the contract, I
was on my own. I considered this very fair and accepted. By the time my
contract runs out, Sprint will probably have 10,000 minutes for $29.99
anyway.

Thanks for your input Michael ...

I have made many calls to Sprint PCS on this issue with no success. I'll try
again. Add a phone ... only makes sense if the total cost is $10. Add $9 to the
$20 they are charging and I've got a completely separate phone/account. One
phone with all the goodies ... and one with just the basic stuff.

Time to call again.

Roy
