I wonder if anyone knows if Sprint does perform credit checks on their PCS
customer accounts. I have checked all of my credit reports (inquiries)
with Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax and see that they never checked my
credit when I established service with Sprint PCS. Quite odd, because when
I applied with ATT and Verizon and PAC Bell they did check my credit and it
shows up. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else out
there...Thanks...Alex in Socal an ExSprint PCS customer now with Verizon,
unlimited mobile to mobile. =)

AFAIK, Sprint always does credit checks now. I do remember a few years
back they had specific plans that advertised no credit check. It is
possible you had one of these plans, which means no credit check would
have been done.

Sprint uses a company called Lightbridge to perform their credit checks.
Lightbridge gets their data from a few other credit sources. Lightbridge
does not give Sprint dealers a report or even a credit rating number. All
they give Sprint dealers is a result stated as: 0 Deposit, 5 Lines or $125
deposit required, 1 Line etc. etc. Nextel uses Lightbridge as well.
I deal in Sprint PCS, Nextel, Cellular One, and Verizon. Cell One and
Verizon have entirely different protocols.

Yes. Customers who got ASL credit scores would get a Fair Credit
Reporting Act letter, and then they'd call and wonder what the heck
was up and call me and gripe about it. When I looked into opening a
personal account, I got one (cuz my credit sucks and I got an ASL
credit class).

SPCS uses an instant scoring system that, when called, takes about
five seconds. The system ranks your credit history based on critera
approved by SPCS management. The actual report is pulled by a company
called Lightbridge, and I believe they pull from Equifax. I was told
once it costs SPCS $45 a pop. I don't know if that's true or not.

The front-line rep does not see your score or anything about your
credit history. They just get a code (usually two letters, like AA or
BA or EA) that tells them what kind of account you get and what
services to offer you.

How do you spell relief?
I am not a Sprint PCS employee.

They do indeed pull from Equifax (I just got copies of my credit
reports [free since I live in GA] and the Equifax report shows an
inquiry by SPCS.)
