Gearlive reports thatt Apple is already seeding a new version of the
iPhone software update to developers: iPhone OS 2.1 Beta.

iPhone OS 2.1 Beta on first glance includes new features for GPS
navigation.
The iPhone OS 2.1 enables to track the heading and speed of your
movement.

These GPS enhancement would enable turn-by-turn navigation
applications. A new SDK is also part of the iPhone OS 2.1 delivery.
There are still many reports of issues on the current iPhone OS 2.0,
so hopefully Apple is able to fix most of them with the 2.1 release. A
new iPhone OS, most likely means that the current iPhone 2.0
jailbreaking and unlocking tool will be obsolete again.
More details on Gearlive.

And still no MMS on the iPhone. (Stock) _No hacks allowed_
Pretty Lame.

No worries on the unlocking tools. That's a given.

I'm still scratching my head over that one...

I'll be thrilled if they address the inconsistent syncing with MS Outlook
issue in this new OS update, a real functionality problem, much more
important to business users than turn-by-turn GPS, a gimmicky add-on of
limited value, imho.

But I know which one sounds more appealing to the mass market.

NEW IPHONE COPY & PASTE

Another bit which may or may not make it into 2.1 is copy/paste.
Supposedly in the new version of the WebKit framework exists commands
for "plugins," "copy," "paste," "cut," and some others...

I already got one from Kensington while at MicroCenter this week. $49.

I also found a very serviceable portable holder that allows horizontal
viewing while in the car or on my desk. $29 The iPhone has been
streaming TV from new vSnax app all morning.

And how much for the new backpack to hold it all?

The extra backup battery if two inches and looks exactly like the 3g
iphone in thickness and everything. It is even designed to leave a
tiny gap between the iPhone and battery so the mic still works for
phone call or voice recording using YouNote or VoiceNote. Both fit
nicely in a shirt pocket and look slick together on the dash. The
battery also can just ride along in any pocket like a small pack of
mint gum.

The holder for the iPhone or BB for that matter is meant to be left in
the car but since I don't have a dock I use it on my desk too for now.
It is that portable. It is heavy since it must not move while the car
is motion. I can live with that. It is sort of like a tiny bean bag on
steroids with an iPhone clamp.

Yeah, I'd like to see what you look like walking around the street with all
that add-on stuff hanging from your bat-belt.

That device is NOT a user-replaceable battery. You could put a car battery
in a shopping cart and walk around that way too. Power will last you all
week that way ya know. :-)

How much bigger than a Nokia N800/N810 does this wonderful bauble make an
iPhone, now??

My girlfriends tell me "Size does make a difference.", but I'm not sure
they're talking about iPhone as none of them have one.

LOL! Now that's funny.

Not the old lame adolescent joke, but the idea that you have a
girlfriend.

less afford a cell phone.
