I recently bought a nokia 6185 prepay phone from someone who didnt need it any
more. It still has 30 minutes left of service on it. I would like to keep using
it for my daughter to have. A couple of things. It works fine, receives and
calls out no problem. How do I tell which service it is, pay2go or go phone.
Its not gsm so Im thinking it cant be gophone. Is pay2go the only other prepay
that att offers? When I place a call, before it dials, the operator comes on
and tells me how many minutes I have left. How do I tell when they expire? Is
there a number (for free) that I can dial from the handset to find this out?
Also, the number is long distance for me. Will att change the number to
something local for me for free? I know tmobile does this. Does this sound like
pay2go? I need to know to purchase more minutes. Sorry for all the ?s.

Hmm, interesting. When I turn it on it says "Welcome to ATT" Then it displays
the ATT logo at the top of the screen once its on. 611 takes me to ATT
wireless. Its actually a 6160m, sorry about that. I looked at a 6185 that I had
by mistake. Theyre physically identical. Thats a verizon phone. So, its an ATT
prepay phone thats not gsm. So, its not a gophone. It had been used til
recently so the munutes are still good. I know with tmobile as long as you know
your phone number you can access all the info from CS, and change the number
too. Just wondering if ATT can do that for me too. Thanks for your help.

If it is a 6160, then it would be a TDMA phone. In that case the prepaid
service would be Free2Go.
