I have a Nokia 3210. Yesterday I received two strange SMS message from
'>pers'. Looks mal-formed to me. The problem I have is that I can't get
rid of them. I can't even get into them to read them... it just skips to
the erased message only the message does not get erased.

Anybody get any idea what is going on?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi, I want to add to this. I have a similar problem with my Siemens S35. A
few days ago a friend sent me an SMS which I received. Along with it came an
"invalid message" which I cannot delete. It doesn't do any visible damage to
the phone, but it's annoying as the "new message" indicator is always on.

I went to the Siemens Center and they check it out and told me I received a
"virus" through SMS, but they couldn't tell me much more about it. They
removed it though and the phone was fine. Only trouble is, the same friend
just sent me an SMS about an hour ago and the same thing has happened again!

The weird thing is that I don't seem to have passed it on to anyone else.
And not every msg this friend sends causes the problem. After I first got it
fixed, I had several msgs from her and everything was fine.

If anyone can enlighten us on this matter, I'll be grateful. Don't fancy
having to traipse down to the Siemens Center every few days.

Thanks,
Felicia

The only way I can see a virus spread through an sms would be ***maybe***
from sending a picture message, tone or logo because I believe they would
have to be sent as attachments to the message so as it can be read and
understood by the phone. These messages that cannot be deleted have me
stumped, but it's a worry that mobile phones are prone to viruses because if
a virus is developed to erase an address book, or worse, the entire sim
card, the mobile phone community would be devastated.

If someone has a solution can they please post it to this site for the
benefit of all.
