I'm having trouble understanding the differences between these three
different types of recording schemes.

I want to clone audio CD's. I take it that TAO copied discs won't sound
very good. Do DAO copied discs sound better to SAO copied discs?

Aside from DAO's ability to get around copy protection schemes, are SAO
and DAO equal?

Probably the very best thing would be for you to go to
http://www.mrichter.com and read some of the info about CD Recording
that Mike Richter has assembled on his web page.

There's introductory info as well as links to more resources. Most of
your questions should be answered there.

Thanks, "sp" and "smh".

I read richter's part concerning TAO, SAO, and DAO.

It sounds like,

SAO = DAO + "the ability to leave the CD open at the end of recording",

but I'm not sure. I wonder if SAO is as good as DAO for cloning CD-DA
(compact disc -digital audio).

According to
http://users.forthnet.gr/ath/axatis/FAQs/CDR/Basics/modes.htm

"SAO is a superset of DAO" so I'm inclined to think that there are no
advantages to using DAO over SAO but I find that strange since the CD-
cloning software seems to prefer DAO and SAO secondary, but I could be
wrong about this.

Anyway, does anyone think there is a fundamental difference between SAO
and DAO aside from the multi-session cabability that SAO has over DAO?

If audio CD's is what you want, then most will just copy 'on the fly' with
Adaptec software, or Nero etc.
However, if you do want to use CloneCD, then the mode will probably make no
difference, as audio data is standard, unlike data on copy protected CDs, so
both modes should have no problems.
