The "It's A Wonderful Life" CD Rom might become a bit harder to find
unless it's licenced by Republic Pictures... It seems they are claiming
it is no longer in the Public Domain and are "suggesting" to TV stations
not to air any copy of the film unless it is licenced by them.
Should be an interesting case, and has some Public Domain film suppliers
a bit concerned. This could account for why you haven't seen the
It's A Wonderful Life CD Rom at your local computer store in time for
Christmas sales.

On the contrary, I've seen it in several stores since the week of Christmas.
If what you say is correct, I might just have to pick it up before it gets
yanked.

I just bought this cd and it is licensed by Republic Pictures. If you like
this movie, this is a wonderful way to watch it. It's not hard to imagine
that soon movies-to-buy will switch to cd-rom instead of VHS since cd-roms
last longer and retain excellent picture quality. Especially with products
like ReelMagic, etc. being released. Or we'll all go CD-I or whatever but
I think one way or another VHS will die out.

I agree, more movies will be released as CD-ROM, but it'll be a long time
before VHS disappears. Just about every family has one now. Sure, it'll
eventually go the way of the rotary telephone, but probably not until
there's a cost effective way of recording and playing CDs that's simple
enough for the computer-illiterate.
