Hello,

I am trying to burn an iso file onto a CD. Problem: there is not
enough room on the CD for the file. I can't split it.

Is there a CD available with more than 700MB space?
The iso file: 715 MB (750,772,224 bytes)
Many thanks for any advice.

In article <76r7s3pm45n7crmi5...@4ax.com>,

Unpack the ISO and remove something that can be split off into another
disc.

Try overburning.

There are 90+ minute blanks out there (to use them, you must make the CD
burning software think it is overburning anyway) but they are terribly
unreliable.

.iso file is meant to be burned as image, not as file. 715M should
easily fit into 700M disc if you burn as image.

Many recommend burning 90/99 min cd at "slower" speed, like 12x or 8x.
(One poster even burned at 4x.)

I greatly appreciate the replies. I did order some 800MB cds, but I'll
try the other suggestions first. I used Roxio, but I wasn't aware of
the difference between burning as a file or as an image. I did try the
"overburning" and slower speed options, but without success.
Will try imgburn.
Many thanks.

Not sure I'm up to this, and it might defeat the purpose of the CD
creation.
I appreciate the advice.

There should be a menu item named something like "Burn image". And if
the .iso cannot be fit into a 700M disc, there should have been a
warning.

(BTW, I am not disputing Mike on burning 90min disc being unreliable.
What I was trying to say was that slower burn speed gives better chance
of success.)

[ImgBurn, Write image file to disc], point to the iso. Under 'Sectors',
most likely the iso is in Mode2/2352. Put in a 700M disc and see if
ImgBurn gives any warning message.

The above should be interpreted to mean that slower burn speed gives
better chance of success, but that does not necessarily guarantee
success.
