My manx cat meows loudly at all hours, especially early morning. Does
anybody else have this problem?

My family's cat in CT likes to walk around late at night "announcing" himself.
He has a pretty soft yowrl, so the folks usually shut the door when he's in a
talky mood.

I don't think this is that unusual. Maybe she is lonely and doesn't understand
why you silly humans are wasting good prowling time asleep!

I have found Manxies to be just as talkative as Siamese. I would try to ignore
it at night. If you get up and feed or play, you'll just reinforce the
behavior.

"Manx have a great range of vocalizations. Most Manx voices are quite soft,
but they miaow and purr and most distinctively, they "trill," especially a
momcat calling her kits, or any Manx calling his person. The Manx voice is
usually very quiet for its size. Even a female in full-blown heat doesn't
make very much noise at all. The Manx has a distinct "trill" which you most
often hear from females talking to the kits, but with which they will reply
to their people's verbalizations as well. Your Manx *will* talk to you."

We are actually having this problem right now with Chewie. He has taken to
standing in the middle of the house at 3 am and using the meow and howl he
usually reserves for trips to the vet. We took him to the vet at first
because it just didn't seem normal for him to be doing this, and
specifically using the very meow which he has used since kittenhood to tell
us when something was wrong. It's a heartbreaking sound and it instantly
causes both myself and Pat to run to his rescue. The vet checked him over
and declared him healthy, but the behaviour continues. I'm pretty sure he
figured out that that specific meow is the one we will always answer to when
he wants attention. Even if he just wants to play.

Enzo is on a pattern where he mostly sleeps through the night now, where as
Chewie has somehow ended up on a different pattern where he sleeps mostly
during the day and has a few hours of rambunctious play time at night.
(Chewie's pattern is the most normal, cats should be playing at night). Enzo
won't play with him so he tries to get us to. I think this is what is
happening.

We've been trying to ignore it, but finding it very difficult. I end up
getting out of bed just to make sure he's allright and start playing with
him for a bit. He shuts up after I play with him, but I can't keep getting
up at 3 am for this. Also, I'm afraid it might be "the boy who cried wolf"
syndrome. We may start ignoring this meow and later on it might be for real.

Anyone have any ideas?

My Manx Gizmo really isn't that vocal, he doesn't have much of a meow
either. But when he is vocal, it's when we go in the bedroom and he wants
in! :-) He has the most mournful voice then.

Yes! He just meows and meows. any time of the day. It think he is bored. And when he finds he's alone in a room I think he is calling for the other beings in the house. He does love taking walks out with a leash and wrestling with his brothers.

Almost all cats like to walk with their owners! Many cats follow their
servants - until they reach the edge of their familiar territory. But few
owners actually take the hint!

My little Manx has the funniest tiny kitten voice. I had another Manx years ago who was quite talkative too but had this deep rumbling kinda voice. Here's a YouTube clip of my current Manx, Jackamo: https://youtu.be/bAmxPY7OFnQ

My daughter's Manx does not meow. All he does is sweek. I thought this was normal for Manx!
