What does GT mean?

What does the GT mean in the name of a car? For example, the Probe GT. Does
it mean Gran Turismo? Grand Touring? Im lost. Please respond

Sorry I disagree, GT I believe is for Grand Touring. It started as a
stock racing class (I think).

GT stands for Gran Tourisimo and was later tranlated into engglish
as grand Touring !!!

There were races in Europe before US. Cars too.

I found out from a Ford Dealer that it means Gran Turismo. But it gets a
little complicated here...Gran Turismo is a french phrase started a while
back. It referred back to the GTO. One of the first true sports cars. In
english, Gran Turismo translates to Grand Touring. But the GT does stand
for Gran Turismo
