One thing we always do when we come here is say hello to my "honorary great
aunt" Mary Katherine. She's 90, and has been actively working to scan, OCR
and digitize a huge collection of photos of Taos memorabilia. I often will
do a bit of tech support when I come, but she's way ahead of me in some
areas.
Unfortunately she's had some health problems and is now in a recovery center
getting therapy. Prayers for her health would be appreciated.
We found out about her situation when her daughter called this morning and
had a long conversation with Karen. It seems that around Thanksgiving, Mary
Katherine had to be hospitalized with flu or some similar virus problem. Her
heart got affected; at one point the doctors gave her less than 24 hours to
live, with arrythmia and severely low blood pressure.
As she was lying in bed, she asked her daughter Susan "Hon, what's my blood
pressure now?" "70/30..." was the reply. "Do you think it might go up if I
were angry?" "Worth a try I guess..."
Mary Katherine lay for a while, glowering and grimacing. No effect on the
blood pressure.
"Mom, why don't you try praying?" asked Susan.
Her face got very peaceful and she lay murmuring to herself for quite a
while.
The heart rhythm settled, her BP went to 110/68, and she went home the next
day.
So if you find it frustrating to "pray to a stone wall"... keep trying.

Toleration is not the opposite of intolerance but the counterfeit of it.
Both are despotisms: the one assumes to itself the right of withholding
liberty of conscience, the other of granting it.

Amazing how centering (which is what the prayer at least initially did
for her) and a little belief can help with all sorts of bodily
functions.
Good to hear, Wys!
