here we goooo !

I hope you like it. A bit of Halloween poetry.

[ Copyright by me, 2021. All Rights Reserved. ]

I saw a sight,
for my eyes to see,
during the last hurricane,
at least I think I did.

I could be mistaken,
it coulda been sand in my eye.

Maybe it wasn't...

But I went down to the beach,
to watch the surf coming in,
the square red flags,
with the black squares in their centers,
were flying down by the shore,
there was a Hurricane a-coming,
not named Lenore nor Sue,
I forgets which one it was,
but I digress.

There was a B-Movie Advertising Announcer,
on the teevee,
squawking about Them having returned,
and it wasn't a movie this time...
yeah, sure.

So, here I am down on the beach,
out of reach of the waves,
crashing on the shore,
when I feel a rapping tapping on my cranium's door.

'Tis but the sand I said,
nothing more.

Then a high pitch voice did bellow,
"Is this stretch of beach ...[horror movie sting music] taken ?!"

The surfer, out on the wave,
screeched louder than the storm,
and took off paddling,
and making it,
against a 150 knot wind.

So, slowly I turned,
inch by inch,
and standing there,
in that maritime breeze,
was a Giant Ant !

"Yeooooowww !" I screamed.

It doth say, "Sorry, not looking for food today,
unless you are ...[horror movie sting music] volunteering ?"

[squeak] "No, not me," I quivered...[squeak]

"Sorry," it said, "I'm not interesting in mice. Nor
humans that act like them, now my brother... never mind.
Is this stretch of beach taken ?"

"Uhm, no."

"Good !"

And it took off running, straight at the water,
and me thinking,
"ya don't see that everyday Chaucer,
a surfing giant ant !"

But it put an antenna,
beside its Jaws,
and up from its back,
there sprang a great noise,
something unfolding from its back,
loudly, like a shutter...

a parasail glider type thingie !

Methinks... 'a paragliding giant ant ?! egad ze-boing !'

And then arose a clatter behind me,
eleventy dozen attack helicopters,
and many tiny windup tanks,
did arrive near the Strand,
methinks, 'its as bit early for Christmas presents time...'

"All will be revealed !" shouted a man in hat and cape.

Now, I quietly mumbled to myself,
all we need is Alice, to show up...
Nah, that would be unbelievable,
why would Alice Coper be here ?

Anyway,
the giant ant, did take flight,
upon the winds crashing ashore,
leaving the attackers far behind,
and it exclaimed,
as it rose out of sight,
"I wonder what eight tiny reindeer taste like ?"

;-) just kidding a round (easier than kidding a triangle).

Took me awhile to figure out what "hand gliding" is. ;-)

Seriously, nice work!

It's what we did as kids, when we stuck our hands out the car window
and let the passing wind move our hands up or down, depending on the
angle we held them at.

(I assume I wasn't the only kid who did that.)

I did that to, taught it to my siblings. Our mother kept telling us we
would lose a hand if we weren't careful. We still have our hands.

Yeah, moms are so "good" at inventing ludicrously unlikely scenarios to scare their kids with. :-Þ
