Monday was it. Nimitz went to the emergency vet on the 6th. He was
terminal with cancer, likely. We planned to keep him comfortable as much
as we could before we took him in to his regular vet to go to Rainbow
Bridge in a week or less.

After his passing, we'll adopt a successor. We find it easier to grieve
into soft kitten fur.

Hubby and Nimmy left for his last trip Monday, the trip to RB. I could
see him having more trouble breathing, so we were able to get a same-day
appointment. Hubby cried in my arms that AM.

Oh, God. This hurts. {sobbing my way to a migraine}

"Another cat? Perhaps. For love there is also a season; its seeds must
be resown. But a family cat is not replaceable like a worn out coat or
a set of tires. Each new kitten becomes its own cat, and none is
repeated. I am four cats old, measuring out my life in friends that have
succeeded but not replaced one another."

Thanks. Dad is as gentle as Chris when putting an ice pack at the back
of my neck. He had a lot of practice with Mom. We're all hurting, even
the cats. Achilles looks for him.

When I'm not so queasy, we'll get a kitten from the shelter.

My Dreamwidth journal has a picture of Nimmy, and the Twitter feed has
two pics.

Good thoughts sent for remembering the fun parts of his kitty life.

Thanks. We really miss him..Bedtime especially hurts as he came to play
the role of Chris' teddycat almost every night.

Nimitz was a sweet cat. He never attacked anything except for toys and
food.
