LEADS System Used To Investigate Anthony

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The State Highway Patrol says it is investigating
the use of a confidential state law enforcement database by officials
in the Columbus suburb of New Rome to get information on a village
councilman.
Information submitted to the Franklin County Board of Elections by New
Rome officials seeking to have Councilman Ed Anthony (pictured, left)
stricken from the voting rolls reportedly was obtained from the Law
Enforcement Data System.
Anthony is leading a push to dissolve the village of New Rome via a
special election on Feb. 4. The election board rejected the move to
cancel his voter registration.
The private use of the LEADS computer is prohibited.
New Rome Police Chief Larry Cunningham said he authorized the LEADS
check on Anthony and his family members as part of an official village
investigation.
